Hi Beth - good to see you posting. How are your arms? I remember you had problems with them. We're still making things for charity. Here's a link to the current thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2514569 If you go back to page 95 on there, post 1885 will refresh your memory! It's been a bit quiet on there lately; it always is during the summer because people are away on holiday or busy with the children off school.

As for the red tape here, friends who have been here for seventeen years are moving back to the UK this month, saying it's the red tape that's driven them back! I don't think it gets any better however long you're here.

Wow, Mioliere you have such a good memory, yes I did have problems with my arms, I had 2 opps for carpel tunnel syndrome on both wrists. I then had to have Cortisone (sp) injections on both wrists as the opps didn't quite get it sorted. I then broke my ankle falling of a scafle board, I wont bore you with the rest of my terrible year, suffice to say I am coping.
    Please stay in touch. xx
PS, thank you for the links :A, I have felt guilty not sending my knitted stuff on, carpel probs etc. stopped me doing lots of needed things. :o

Thanks for all your kind comments & Bramble thanks for the offer. My Ds is a mechanic, but he is still recovering from the surgery he had last month, & he won't he back at work til Oct, so he can get cheap parts but not til then.
Here is the email I rec'd from a local garage.

I have spoken to the Parts Dept At Honda it is not good news ! Your
car is a programmable system so would have to be carried out by the
dealership ! i did get the parts prices for you to give you an idea

    Complete steering Lock/barrel assembly £587.45+vat (£704.95) Ouch ! if
you dont have the RED master key you will also need an immobilizer
Unit at £204.94+vat (245.92) i didnt get the labour price as i fell
off my chair ! Im so sorry we can not help you this time but thank you
    so much for contacting us.

I don't have the RED master key, I bought the car 2nd hand anout 10 years ago & never have had a RED key.

DS is looking into this to check if the info is correct, he is also looking into taking out the barrel & using a screwdriver to start the car, obviously this isn't an ideal situation, lol.

    Have a good evening all.
    Hugs Hester

    Evening all!

Hope you don't mind me joining in :D I've been on and off the old style board over the years but this month I'm really making an effort to get my spends under control and to find more cost effective ways to do things. So I've really stuck to my food budget this month ( got spreadsheets and all sorts! ) and I'm including EVERYTHING I spend on food including the pint of milk I pop round the corner shop for and the bar of chocolate I just couldn't make it through the night without. I've then split it down into categorys to see what % of my budget goes where which I can tell you has been a compete eye opener  but gives me something good to work towards improving next month.

I found a local online butcher who were really cheap to try and have to say I'm extremely impressed with the quality of the meat so that should save me money in the future. I went foraging for the first time at the weekend and made a blackcurrant coulis and did a load of batch cooking so have a load of pies ( corned beef & potato and steak & ale ), chilli, bolognese and mince and onions now portioned up and in the freezer and rather then buying biscuits and cakes I now make all my own. Infact I have a batch of millies cookies in the oven as I speak :D

Budgets pretty tight now so trying to avoid the supermarket until pay day which is still over a week away! Got about £10 to last until then and will have to buy more fresh veg/salad stuff for the guinea pigs but I'm fairly confident I can hit target, I really hope I can, I need to really, all our money is going towards paying for our wedding at the moment so have no spare cash!

If you can't find help here then you never will, :D this is a great supportive site. :) Well done on all you have achieved in your post:T

Had a email from my landlord - they're mad about the door, which is understandable, but we'll get that fixed, they're not happy with the yard and the front of the property, but the place was in such a state when we moved in, nevermind, we shall get it tidied up and carry on looking for a new place to live in the mean time! - that's that hard part!

Bitsy - hi, there! Have a great holiday.

Beth - please don't feel guilty about not sending in stuff. It'll get used whenever you send it; wait until you're ready. Carpal tunnel is a real nuisance, isn't it. Sorry you've had such a bad time of it lately.

Hester - no wonder you fell off your chair! Everything is so expensive these days, isn't it?

Losing patience - as Beth says, this is the best place for advice on everything OS! Saving up for your wedding is a great incentive to be as OS as possible!

Redruby - I can tell from FB what fun you're having being a labourer!

Well, having not been on here for months, I think I've posted three times today. I really want to stay in touch with you all from now on!

Well the vegetable lasagne was a great success even with DS. I told him it was mushroom lasagne and he scoffed the lot. OH loved it too and had seconds. I am so chuffed with myself.

    Bitsey-have a good holiday!

    Moliere-good to see you posting.

    Night all.
