Hi all
Back from the gym.
Hester-sorry to hear about car problems......
Bitsey-hope your back is better soon.
Re the green lentil and veggie stew thing from yesterday I had a brainwave and will turn it into a veggie lasagne for tonight. Oh's face will be a picture but I think it will be quite nice. I will let you know tomorrow how it goes. I am determined not to waste it.
Have a good afternoon all.

Happy Birthday Sammr and EvieI hope you have had a good day so far
Hester ouchI have always said that if a car costs more than £600 to repair, it is time to get a new (second hand) one.
Well today it has been raining on and off and I am so glad that I got all the washing done yesterday.
DH took me to Wilko's last night and we picked up quite a few bargains in their summer saleA new suitcase half price for my hossy jaunts
a cushion for the garden bench reduced fro £12 to £3, a new hose on a reel for £19 bbq tool set for 49p to name but a few
I have some goss to spill I have been bursting for a few days now DD's BF's best friend asked the programmers at valve to make up a special level on portal 2 as a proposal to his GF on her birthday which was yesterday and even got the voice actress to participate as wellit is so sweet and lasts nearly 9 minutes if you want to watch it just for the awwwww factor it has been posted on you tube by one of the programmers - what an awesome proposal eh!

Hello all,
Overcast to-day but not bad, 2 loads of washing out, at least 2 more to go, not counting bedding as all my visitors have gone home to-day ( house is wonderfully quiet!)
Left DD2 and girls to boat this morning for 8am, poor little GD3 was sick going down the quays....no time to stop so DD got into back with them both and kept her happy for the few minutes until we got to terminal...will soon be home I hope, they were so excited as have been here for 18 days so longing to be home with Daddy.
DS1 came from Cork to get his visa for Russia, went with him as there is no parking near embassy and needed to have someone to drive around while he was in there....not too long, managed to find space not too far away.....hate driving their car, left hand drive, which is fine on continent but not here, also big and automatic which I don't fancy either....must be getting old as no longer feel up to taking on challenges!
Happy birthday to Elvie and Sammr, have a good day.
Hester....that's horrendous, can you manage to get something else or manage without a car for a while?? Presume that like most of us you don't have that much sitting in your back pocket!
Cooked steak, peas, beans and potatoes at 1 before DS1 and DGD2 headed off for Cork, so that was dinner, will probably have cheese/crackers later, will try to just have fruit but gluttony will probably take over!
Just having a 'chill' this afternoon, have a couple of knitting projects to finish off, might do that and have a think about what to take on next...maybe another baby cardigan to have a stash in when somebody unexpectedly produces a new baby.
Hope that you are feeling ok to-day Ivy.
Have a good day all and enjoy as much as you can

Bitsy you have to be a gamer (which I am not) to understand the actual game play but if you listen to all the little nods at marriage it really is lovely especially when glados says her name her BF was behind her on one knee with the ring and she squealed xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Hi everyone - long time, no post! Our lovely Donny-Gal (via FB) has made me realise just how long it's been since I posted on here, so I intend to put that right, hopefully.
I see there are lots of new names since I last posted. I may not have been on here for a long time, but I can promised you newbies that they are a lovely bunch on here!
OUr house is almost finished; it has taken a lot of time and a lot of money and, TBH, I can hardly remember what it was like when we first bought it! Life here in France is very challenging; I had read about the red tape but nothing prepared me for how bad it really is. I always have at least three battles on the go, and it's even worse in August because the civil service here seem to take the whole month off!
I've lost my internet connection several times lately, the worst being about three weeks ago when the house took a direct lightning strike. We lost a TV, two satellite receivers, an internet phone, and the network card in my PC. Getting it all sorted out took almost a week, and now I am battling with the contents insurers, who are insisting that we replace everything we lost, then they'll decide how much to give us, once they've deducted the €200 excess, and 10% for each year of age of each of the items! That's not how I understand insurance, so I'm challenging them on that!
Anyway, enough of that. OS-wise, I've been baking this morning; two loaves of bread, and one tea loaf. I have some fresh beetroot to cook, and loads of peaches from the tree in the garden to do something with. Dinner tonight is salad left over from yesterday, along with potato salad and tarragon chicken.
We've lent some friends (who run a nearby organic pig farm, although they are closing it down, mainly due to the red tape here) DH's van for the last three weeks because both their vehicles have broken down. They know I've been looking for a second freezer, so they have one that I can have but they are insisting it comes with half a pig in it, all jointed and packed! I think it's too much and have told them so, but I think they will just go ahead and bring it round here, anyway. I'll keep you informed!
Anyway, I shall try and read the rest of the posts on here now. I hope you are all keeping well.

Hi all
Not had a chance to have a 'proper' read yet - apologies for that.
Although, so far this month, I have done very much better than last, I need to stop buying rubbish, this month has been particularly expensive as the kids needed whole new u iforms as the school has 're-rolled' from september and the kids now have to wear blazers at £50 a pop Grrrrrr..... All from one supplier - even more Grrrrrr.....
Anyhooooo - need to sit down and work out how I can get my little darlings to eat packed lunches from Sept, apparently they are not cool! But as I pay £100 pm on school lunches - they will have to, DD has food issues anyway, so I always worry that she has actually eaten anything, and althugh pavked lunches mean I know what went in the boxes, I don,t know what ends up in the bin - will try and talk to them DS,s are alot easier as they are basically dustbins and would need a lunchbox the size of a truck to keep them full
Sorry to burble on......
Have a great day xNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Happy birthdays to Evie & Sammr :beer:Hardup_Hester wrote: »I've just had a call about my car. The parts alone cost almost £1000, gulp!
As the car is only worth about £200 I don't think it's worth bothering, oh bu&&er
 I thought the £600 for the part my car needs was expensive! I'm another in the searching for a new 2nd hand car club.I always buy mine a few beers, and have a flirt with him when I see him in our local;):D

Well my Dr was in today so had my appt. My Vitamin B12 levels are low but not as bad as I thought they would be, but I still need a course of injections. I'm having 3 jabs over next 10days. I'm also taking Vitamin B Complex tablets which I bought today, and do you know what I already feel better. I asked him about whether there was a link between that and the vertigo and he said probably not, but the fact that I'm tired would make my vertigo worse. He has given me prescription for anti-vertigo tablets, but they are the ones that really spaced me out last timeso they are for emergencies only.
Had a good day at work (although my boss tried to send me home cos she thinks I'm too ill to work! but I stood my ground and stayed). We did some paperwork in the morning and then in the afternoon my lovely colleague offered to drive us to the country park (I'm not driving ATM cos of the dizziness), so we went to the beach. I bought them all an ice cream, then we played rugby on the beach and went for a paddle in the sea.
OS wise - going to make some pasta sauce tonight so will freeze the leftovers, sorting through paperwork and changing addresses also needs to be done.
Have a good evening all

MIOLIERE :j, So good to see you're here again, I've been MIA for over a year but had to pick up the pieces and get back to OSing. I still have loads of knitting that I did for prem babies and squares for HTA. Must search for addresses to post them on
.
Just spent 2 weeks with our DF's who own a home in France and here in Blighty. I know of the reams of Red Tape that engulf them even after having owned the farm/cottage for 13 yrs.
Hope you and yours are happy & healthy.0
