If you missed out on the low-cost HP TouchPad – with its price slashed from £400 to around £100 – but still want one, there's some good news. Hewlett Packard Co plans to crank out "one last run" of TouchPads, just over a week after declaring it will kill off its tablet line after apparently deciding they had failed to challenge Apple Inc's command of the booming market.
Update: HP says that the new batch will only be available in North America, and "there will be no additional products available in EMEA [Europe, the Middle East and Africa] beyond what is currently available."
In a statement, HP EMEA said: "We are pleased by the response to webOS and look forward to customer feedback so we can further enhance the platform. A limited quantity of TouchPads will be available in the coming weeks in North America only. In EMEA we are discontinuing the webOS hardware operations and will not offer any additional products beyond what might be currently available in selective outlets."

Why do America always get the better end of the stick? They're doing a last run of touchpads to deal with the high demand for them, what about people in the UK, is out demand not great enough? We pay taxes and vat on items like this and lose out to America who don't? I hope HP fall on their !!!!!!, it serves them right now.

That has really hacked me off, so it seems our last hope of getting hold of one is to line the pockets of those on ebay or amazon selling them on to make a profit.

Insight UK and all their 16Gb Touchpads are now sold.
They have 86 x 32Gb Touchpads remaining at £174.99 plus 20% vat and £10.99 shipping.
£221 is far too much for me to afford.
They said they won't be reducing the price, as they will all be sold soon.

Did no one buy this one?

I can't find the 32GB one on their website, do you have a link to it or a link to the source of your info?

I don't see the point of paying a couple of hundred quid for this. Like other's who didn't manage to secure an HP Touchpad at between £89 and £115 I'm disappointed not getting one at that price but I hadn't even considered buying one until the price came down. The low price and frenzy to buy one of these seems to have made people who wouldn't normally buy "old technology, or in this case not so old and dated but obsolete technology", buy something they wouldn't normally buy. Will the people who bought them regret buying them in a few months because as other operating systems improve and android take over the market webOs goes nowhere? I guess at £89 you cant really complain when it doesn't perform and work out in the long term. I tried a display model at Comet in Uddingston yesterday and its not particularly user friendly. At £89 its OK as a toy, but give me a laptop any day.
  • totally agree with you , people went mad I want I want, but in the long term ummmm

Sorry guys but it was phone orders only and they sold out by about 3 o'clock I spoke to them via the 'talk to our agents' chat facility and they were actually quite helpful but I weren't prepared to pay that price. However a good number of people from HDUK ordered some and all orders were shipped same day!
