There is obviously a market at £200-£250 out there so those who bought for profit won't miss out but it is annoying how difficult it makes it for those who just want one for ourselves. I am only interested in a £100 maximum priced tablet for daughter, similarly my dad wants one for £100 but wouldn't pay any more. If a company could make and sell one for £100 it would be on every coffee table in the country but looks like that isn't going to happen soon.

Is £60 too low??0 -

Don't do it, they have bad reviews everywhere with one of the biggest complaints being an unresponsive touchscreen (much like a nokia 5800!). There is a reason why big brand name stores aren't stocking the likes of this tablet, you'll only find it on sites like ebay and amazon.
It's £29 less than the touchpad, which is so much better. If you're contemplating going for this cheaper one at least wait a little longer to see if you can get the touchpad with the next batch.0 -

The lack of flash problem (and html5 errors) stopped me working productively as I had to keep diving on to my laptop to view flash based websites etc.
I didn't want to spend £400+ on an Android Tablet, just to surf the net. (and fork out more on Android apps n games)
So reluctantly I bought a netbook for portability, flash etc, memory capacity, accessibility. It can be slow @ times at there are more processes running.
The HP Touchpad would fit in nicely price / practicability / portability if can just get my paws on one!!!!!!!!
I think people should note this is not a fair impression of an iPad & comparing the HP to it is just silly, hence the thing is being discontinued and being sold off cheap. The lack of flash on the iPad is a very poor excuse, the iPad is selling faster than they can make them and not many complain about missing flash! I for one have been using an iPad since they came out and have never experienced any HTML 5 errors??
Your way better off buying a second hand iPad 1 off EBay, it's apps & functionality are incredible, and not to big a difference to the iPad 2 so a real bargain if you can grab one in good condition. Thinking you can get anything like the functionality with the HP is pointless even if they do manage to port Android to it!0 -

Apple fanboy :rotfl:
The touchpad isn't as far off an iPad as you say it is, if you've seen the videos for it you will see it's alot like an iPad, to the point where you think they've copied the iPad/OS design.
It makes me laugh how those with that own iPads, that haven't actually tested anything other than an iPad are so quick to put a downer on any other brand of tablet just because it's not got a half eaten apple logo on it's rear.0 -

NO, I was just replying to the person re: £100 tablet.
I had a 5800 and there were a lot of software conflicts that would stop the screen buttons working or lock the phone, especially if you were using certain screensavers/wallpaper. 'Nokia' were dumb in their response, I might have not bothered!!!
What is the point of an Ipad if you can't surf the internet proper. I had some html5 issues with some websites - it came up on the screen.0 -

you are deluded, my parents had an ipad when they came out. I was underwhelmed, not proper multitasking and limited what you can realistically do - just surf the net, watch movies/clips, mainly naff games that you can get on an iphone (ive had an iphone 3g since launch btw) - my acer ferrai does everything an ipad can do except touchscreen, yet it can alot more
the ipad is quite neat and the hp touchpad is near identical to the ipad 1 albeit feels slightly heavier - easily worth £199 let alone £89
as for the ipad pricing thats a joke - crazy price
the hp is very good imo, screen is responsive, nice quality with near apple crispness, nice case better than the apple imo and also no cable induction charging via the superb touchstone that even works if you have the case on!!
so the hp v ipad 2
hp pros
miles cheaper
flash
cableless charging via touchstone
hp cons
heavier
bulkier
uncertain webos support
obsolete hardware
will be interesting to see what happens next - what will amazon do re: pricing of their tablet - if <£200 and its of hp touchpad quality and uses android then apple should be worriedStevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -
Simply Electroncis appear to have the 16 and 32 touchpads in stock but they are £194.45 and £226.95. Free delievery
They have now changed their prices to £239.95 for the 32gb one.0 -
The Reg are reporting HP are doing another production run of the Touchpad, ding ding round 2!!
