Mulberry Outlet Shops? Are they Genuine?

  • These are surprisingly slick at first glance using Mulberry branding.
My girlfriend just asked me to order a bag from one of these fake sites and I thought I would check it out first.

I found at least 6! current sites all with a URL that had a combination of the words Mulberry + Outlet + York in their names. All lead to the same bags for sale. One site with the same bag pictures based in the USA said they are a Hong Kong based company.

Either way this is a nightmare and will be hard for Mulberry to control - they seems to generate new URLs at will.

I emailed Mulberry ad gave them the URLS i found.

Im sure many people have been caught by this scam.

Aaarrgghh! I am kicking myself! I've just ordered from www. yorksmulberryoulet .com, then came on here and realised its s fake. I only went to it because I was looking on purse forum and saw that Mulberry have an outlet store in York. I paid via credit card and have contacted my bank, their advice is to wait until the transaction appears on my statement and contact them again to get it disputed. In the meantime I need to try to contact the site to get the order cancelled - I don't hold out much hope as their only contact is via email. I will be walking around today with the word MUG written on my forehead...:(

Okay so I got a response from the site and after a few exchanges of email they have agreed to cancel the order and refund the money less the 'bank transaction fee' which will be about £13-ish. I will watch my card statement like a hawk for the next few days and if it doesn't arrive after 7 days I'll go back to my bank to raise the dispute. The site refutes any accusations of being fake  A hard lesson learned. :(

  • Is there anyway to get a refund from these counterfit sites - is it worth reporting them to the Police and trading standards?

Update on my situation: my refund has arrived less a £13 bank transfer charge but at least I got the bulk of it back. I'm putting it down to my stupidity at being taken in and not checking my facts first.

To answer your question @Jen2703 yes you can get a refund but I did email them within 30 mins of placing my order. If I'd left it any longer I may not have. I did also contact my card issuer the same day and they would have covered me if I hadn't got anything out of them. As they are overseas I'm not sure what Trading Standards could do and the real Mulberry are already aware of them as someone else has already posted.

The lookup on whois has them registered in Fuji and it's a gmail.com email address...so definitely not.

Its fake. They are all fake. You should only ever buy mulberry from mulberry.com or an authorised sellers website (for instance, a premium brand store such as Selfridges), or physically walk into a mulberry store, a mulberry outlet, or an authorised sellers store. If you do not follow this, then what you purchase is on your own head.

What annoys me about the mulberry issue is that everyone is always looking for an £800 quid handbag for £100. If you want a cheap handbag; don't buy a knockoff as the quality is noticeable instantly (if my sister and I see you carrying it down the high street, we will be talking about you and judging you - sorry) and it makes you look sad. Buy a handbag that doesn't try and be something its not. If you want the real thing for a deal then you can try ebay etc for a secondhand one, of course with the caveat of doing the legwork to make sure its not fake and protect yourself.

I hate to sound snobbish and a bit of a b**** in the above but I don't care, i'm quite happy to be honest about my feelings on this matter!

    Hello

These are totally fake. I know, I bought a handbag for my wife mistakenly thinking she knew someone had already bought one from xxx.outletyorkmulberry.co.uk

I bought a bag online supposedly with 80% off. The payment site didn't seem to work properly so I looked for a phone number on the website and discovered only and email address so I emailed them and asked if they'd received my order.

A couple of days later they confirmed, in pigeon English, that they had received the order and they would email me a tracking number.

    'mulberryoutletyorkukshop.webeden.co.uk'
    xxx.mulberryzyork.co.uk'
    'xxx.outletyorkmulberry.co.uk'

A week later I had not received the tracking number so I emailed them again and they sent me a DHL tracking number which I used on the DHL website to find out the bag was being despatched from Taiwan, so clearly not a genuine Mulberry bag.

I immediately asked for a refund, again via email, and refused the package when DHL tried to deliver it. I then entered into a long email exchange where they refused to refund the money and persisted in asking me to arrange to collect the parcel.

To cut a long story short I contacted Citizens Advice and as well as some good information they reported the case to the Trading Standards people where I live. The trading standards people got back to me and confirmed that these sites sell counterfeit Mulberry handbags and are actually based in Turkey so take my advice, if it seems too good to be true it usual is so don't use these websites. I'm down £150 and to be honest I blame my self to being so naïve so don't be as stupid as I was.
