Mulberry Outlet Shops? Are they Genuine?

I'm in the same situation as you, I ordered a bag 2 days ago and got a confirmation email which made me suspicious, the English was very poor. I've checked my bank statement and nothing's been taken out yet so I'm thinking of contacting the bank to stop any payment going out. I can't believe I've been so stupid and been duped, it was on a site which sounds like it was a mulberry outlet website. Will the bank allow me to stop any payment, also I'm concerned that such a company has now got my card details so I'm definately request my card is changed.0

I tried to cancel payment after posting but unfortunately the transaction had completed so was unable to prevent the money being taken out. The bag arrived today and its ghastly, it absolutely stinks like a really strong plastic PVC type of smell. It's not even a good copy of the bag and I can't believe that I didn't check into the website properly before I ordered.
The company is based in China so I don't think there's any point of even trying to get any money back. I feel like putting the bag in the bin and am soooo cross with myself for getting it :mad:0 -
Oh that's a shame but nothing you can do nowtravelover0

Does section 75 of the consumer credit act not cover this as purchase was>£100?The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

I recently brought a Mulberry bag and purse (the Somerset in oak) from the Mulberry shop at Stansted airport.
I got chatting to the SA and she said the following:
-There are lots of fake sites, unless you're buying from Mulberry or a certified seller don't chance it. Each M bag has a serial number and it's registered to you when you purchase it.
-Mulberry Outlet stores (eg Bicester) sell genuine stock that is one year old. They store unsold sale stock for a year and then sell it at the previous sale price.
-The cheapest place to buy genuine Mulberry is from an airport shop in the sale. You get VAT off the sale price. My bag cost £550, was reduced to £440 in the sale and at the airport was £367. Purse was £250 to £175 and then about £20 off at the airport.
For almost £500 it wasn't cheap but I'm sure will outlast any fake and the money supports a genuine company, not con artists.
Hope this helps someone!0 -

All true except the serial number, it's not registered to you. And not every bag has one.
Mulberry is a slightly quirky brand and some older styles have no serial number, some don't even have discs. They can be a little inconsistent.
I'm a big Mulberry fan and I have a small (ish) collection of bags and purses. I'm a member of

Loads of info on Mulberry and there is a thread on authenticating bags, there are some very knowledgeable ladies who can let you know if your bag is authentic or not.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
I am also a member of the purse forum and gunsandbanjos is correct in saying that the ladies on there are completely lovely !!
Before purchasing my first genuine mulberry I too ordered a bag from one of the fake websites listed previously. Almost straight away I realised my mistake - the website was full of grammatical errors! My bank was unable to stop the payment despite phoning them almost immediately as it was made with a debit card.
The only way to contact the website was via email. So as a last resort I sent emails to the addresses listed asking them to cancel my order. After a couple of days I received a confirmation email that my order had been cancelled & that I would receive a refund. The refund was received almost a week later minus £10 due to "floating currency" which was a small price to pay for a lesson learned !0 -
I ended up with a pair of fake ugg boots a couple of Christmas' ago. I got my money back by starting out a blog and made it clear that the site was fake in the title and wrote one post warning others that it was fake. I then sent the link to the company and they let me keep the boots and they gave me most or all of my money back. I think it was all of it bar shipping costs actually.
I found this thread as i myself am interesting in buying from the Mulberry's outlet store in York.0
