Thanks Igamogam and NewLeaf.
I still haven't caught up with your diaries but will get right onto it.
Yes, aren't goodbyes the worst? I was at the leaving lunch today of my line manager who is a brilliant woman and such an inspiration. I could feel the tears welling up, again! And I have another leaving lunch next week and 2 more the week after. All these goodbyes need to stop; I'm really needing some hellos.
I still haven't looked at the cash. It's a similar feeling to when I started this journey, I'm scared to look 'cos if it's a disaster I just won't cope. But it's better to know, so I'll do it tonight. Or tomorrow.
I'm looking forward to the weekend. I'm off swimming with my pal and her baby girl. Cheap, fun and totally rejuvenating.Just what I need.
Hope everyone's ok and debt busting like crazy. If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
Dont worry about the money side of things - bet when you look it wont be that bad - cant be worse than when you first started on the debt free road and you do know now what to to to get yourself back on the bumpy waggon rideBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

You won't believe this...I've lost another grand of debt!!!!
I have another jumping bean to add to my signature!!!
Debt total now stands at £12,111.99
I'm away to update my signature...very happy indeed with that!If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
So total debt paid off so far is £2117.49. Isn't that amazing? :T
Now for some bad news. OH is determined to get a car. We don't have any money to buy one but could probably afford to run it. Though there would be less to overpay debt with. And the fact that OH is well enough right now to have the kind of busy life that needs a car is such a good thing.
I need to give this some serious thought. And OH needs to do some major research into CHEAP cars.If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
So I've just paid £200 into the food budget account and £200 into the petrol account. The car money has been paid to MiL and money is there for all the DDs this month.
Peace of mind. Priceless.
The ongoing car negotiations are doing my head in though. We cannot possibly afford another car loan so I just can't see how we could make this happen. Oh the dilemma of it.If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
See wasnt as bad as you thought! The whole car debate is a nightmare.Am I right in thinking your OH gets DLA do they qualify for motabilityBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Afraid not, it's low rate care and low rate mobility, and both due to run out in a couple of months. They were only granted for 4 years after several applications, a horrible appeal interview by me, and OH lying half dead in hospital after emergency surgery and me being expected to do all the care after OH was discharged. I just can't go through that process again. OH's condition is not one that automatically qualifies for DLA and even though we know what its for and we know that it's needed, chances are slim to none of getting it. Especially with recent changes to DLA being announced.
My goodness I'm sounding cynical aren't I? Maybe to apply wouldn't hurt.
But back to the car situation...think I may need to try and talk OH out of it.If you know you have enough, you're rich.0 -
You can't afford a car, you are clearing debt and securing your future. I personally think he is being selfish and not thinking clearly about the security of both your futures. I would say no to him. Him sulking for a while is better than taking on more financial responsibilities. You've only just recently been in fear of losing your job, I don't advise now being a time to think about a car!0
