I'm also not a lover of parsnips but I love them roasted (you can make them the same way as SW chips). It's made me miss them actually just thinking about them as we can't get them over here - the closest thing is parsley root but it's more bitter and not as big as a proper parsnip - I put them in soup.
oooh that was what I missed when I lived in the Middle East - parsnips. I just adore them roasted and have had JUST roast parsnips for Xmas lunch before now (hope this posts ok - the new kitten is obsessed with walking across the keyboard!)
Hello all, and welcome to Fairycakes, well I weighed myself yesterday evening and seem to have gone over into double figures, **smacks self** there's only me to blame. So from today back on the straight and narrow, move over on that tank. I am no longer maintaining I am gaining and I HAVE TO LOSE!:jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j
thank you Slimming World!

Thanks maman. I do think I'll get one - I'm just the worst cook ever so need to find some recipes!
Hi Copperjar, I love my slow cooker but sadly it gets put away in the summer and only just remembered around December time!! I have a Slow cooker recipie book which I usually adapt the recipies to fit in with the SW plan - I got it from Amazon - if you let me know what sort of things you like I could put a few recipies on here for you.
One of my staples whilst on plan is home made Tom Sauce (I use this for bolognaise, lasagna, chicken etc) this can be made in the slow cooker, I use olive oil as I have a DH who is like a stick insect and a young DS who need the fat, but you can leave this out and use fry light instead to make it syn free -
1tbsp Garlic infused olive oil (6syns)
1 onion
1 clove garlic crushed
2 tins chopped tomatoes
1 carrot grated
1 courgette grated
1 pack mushrooms, chopped
1 beef oxo cube
1 tsp worcester sauce
1 tsp oregano
ground pepper and salt to season
I usually fry the onion, garlic and mushroom in the oil untill browned, then add the remaining ingredients, pop them into the slow cooker with the browned meat of your choice and leave to slowly cook - good luck hope this helps.

Hello everyone! please can I join you? I've been reffered to you by maman from the Frump to Fab thread.
I was a target member until I completely fell off the wagon and I really need to get back on it. Unfortunately I can't afford to go to group anymore so I'm going to have to do it at home, I still have all my books from last time and I still buy the magazine every month.
I'm now over 3 stones heavier than my previous target weight so I may be here a while!0 -

This sounds great FC - I think I'm going to make that this weekend. To me slow cooker food is for cold, wet days - unfortunately we don't have many of those over here but it is set to be certainly colder this weekend (although that's probably British summer temperatures rather than British winter!!!!:Devilsquid1603 wrote: »Hello everyone! please can I join you? I've only been here a couple of weeks myself but everyone here is great and really supportive. I'm on another SW forum but unfortunately there is almost no traffic at all so it gets a bit lonely over there!!! Good luck with the "journey".Mediterranean Mum
hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j0 -
I am sure my husband would be more than willing for me to package up ours and send them to you, MM....
Seriously, I have got to ask the veg box people to not give us any more parsnips. It is the only vegetable I can't stand and I think I have tried it cooked in almost every way.
A good day so far, plus a 20 minute run (although it did involve a lot of stopping for my four year old on his bike to sort out his gloves etc). So not exactly perfect, but I am having a go!
The chachouka smells gorgeous, not doing the last stage until later as eating late tonight, and the merguez chips smell great too.

I might be tempted you know!!!
I'm going shopping this evening and am definitely going to buy ingredients and plan for chachouka next week - what recipe do you use?Mediterranean Mum

Welcome! I joined this thread 2 days ago and already finding it really helpful! I had to stop going to group a couple of months ago and have piled some (well most) of the weight I lost back on! I have a huge amount of weight to lose and I have a seven year old who can't understand why her and dad are fit and healthy but mummy isnt (breaks my heart), so I've set myself a re-start date of 01/01, just so I can get organised (shopping arriving today so maybe able to start sooner) and get the freezer stocked with homemade individual meals so I can 'grab and go' (I am useless unless I plan)!
Goodluck on your journey, I'm sure you'll find this thread as useful as I am finding it!

Well, I am officially back and back on the wagon! As of today!
I weighed this morning and am now just under 11 stone:eek: My lowest was just under 10 stone - so the divorce and general letting myself go had paid its price (a stone's worth:o!)! Never mind, no dwelling or wallowing - I can do something about this.
I've done a freezer and cupboard stockcheck and if you ignore the few Xmas leftovers there's plenty of SW friendly stuff in. I do need to pop to the greengrocers for some F&V but otherwise I have the basis of plenty of green days (I'm a veggie).
Today's food will be...
Brunch - banana (not up and dressed yet)
Lunch - small jacket spud with beans and little bit of cheese (A Choice)
Tea - spaghetti, quorn meatballs and passata
Snacks - satsumas and grapes
No syns planned yet but I'm sure they'll feature at some point (although a syn free day wouldn't be the end of teh world!)
Am also going to walk the dog for an hour and do Day 1 of the 30 Day Shred (not looking forward to this!).
Its good to be back!0 -

Thank you!Bolognaise sauce sounds lovely.
I always struggle with green days. Any recipes I could do in a slow cooker on those days?[STRIKE]Total debt 1.11.10 £23,446[/STRIKE]Save £6k in 2015 #129 £6121.66/£6000Save £6k in 2016 #39 £6000/£60000
