Things You Never Thought You Could Sell

This thread has inspired me as I have recently moved house and I have been giving things away on freecycle. I was just about to list a sony walkman CD player still in its original box and with all the extras on there. I am now going to list it on ebay (and free listing too!!!).
I am particularly interested in the tax discs but was concerned about its legality so I just googled selling tax discs and this site came up. Not sure if it helps anybody. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Not really i charge 1st class postage for my stuff (i dont bother with recorded as they arent worth that much) so it doesnt cost that much really and anyway the buyer pays.
Packing costs are minimal i buy 50 plastic mail bags off ebay for about £3.
It does depend on what your selling though.. stuff from Next, Debenhams, Gap etc etc sells really well because its not that cheap in the first place (well i buy in the sales but normally its not)... Stuff from the likes of Asda/Primark which is cheap in the 1st place obviously doesnt go for so much.
Alot of the clothes i sell go to places like Estonia, Romania, Lithuania etc i presume because fashionable kids clothing isnt so easily available out there.0 -
I must just be unlucky with my views
. thanks for that, will give it a go. Have tons of DS' old clothes to sell.
I always list clothes to finish in the evening around 8.30pm but never on a fri or Sat. Listings that finish on a Sunday evening in winter seem to sell for loads.
I always put good clear pics on and do a detailed description and list any faults no matter how minor.. oh and state that they come from a clean, pet & smoke free home.
Are you willing to sell abroad.. i find a lot of my boys clothes go to Eastern Europe.0 -

I used to give my DS' old clothes away on Freecycle and excess to Charity shops
That's what I do, but I should give this a go I think.goingforward wrote: »Not really i charge 1st class postage for my stuff (i dont bother with recorded as they arent worth that much) so it doesnt cost that much really and anyway the buyer pays.

That's a good idea as I thought packing costs would be prohibitive. I always p+p at cost too.
I'll have to have a sort through and get stuck in I think, haven't sold on eBay in ages and I do have a lot of other stuff that I should get on and list.0 -

Agree with all this... and would add that I always add that I will combine postage to encourage people to bid on more than one item!0 -
Sorry if someone's already posted this (i'm being lazy and only read the first few pages) but what about old toys from the 80's. My husband's made a fortune selling old star wars toys - he did used to have transformers toys which are selling really well on ebay too (but sadly they never made it to the loft). All old toys are coming back for popularity.
We've sold old phone chargers and earpieces that we dont have the phones for (recycled), I think hubby's even sold old manuals (people lose theirs and are desperate to use those gadgets again without having to buy a whole new one just cos they've lost instructions).
FIL sold loads of free mcdonalds happy meal toys - Mr Men, Muppets etc, Disney ones always go really well too.0 -
ooh also, empty DVD boxes.
My sister sold a friends boxset box clearly labelled BOX ONLY - DVDS NOT INCLUDED (her hubby is a bit OCD and put all her dvds in plastic individual boxes so the card ones wouldn't get frayed on the corners/wet etc) someone paid over £9 for it (apparently they had the whole 10 series in one style cover, except for one which had a different design and they bought hers cos it was the matching design.
Loads of people who are a bit retentive about their films will pay for "matching" boxes.0 -
Well thats 4hours of my life I wont get back LOL!!!
Glad I found this though - am off to root out some old [STRIKE]tat[/STRIKE] lovely items ready to list :beer:0
