I'm thinking of selling my old, broken laptop. Apparently there are people who buy things like that, repair them, then sell them on. Wonder how much it will be worth...

Its defo worth it we had our lying around for ages. The screen was broke and you couldn't see anything. We sold it on ebay for £90. We thought that was great seem as it was just taking space up.

Typical! It's a hard one to gauge. with something like that.

Just be happy that you got rid of it. It's that bit less clutter for the house.

I've removed the hard drive from mine, so I'm not sure how much that will affect the value.

WIll worry about mine when I have more time and will let you know.

P.S. Did you sell yours with the power lead? My brother suggested selling it seperate and getting some money that way. And the battery. Not sure how much it would sell for without those, though.

Yep - I'm happy it's gone! I sold mine with both a power lead and battery, the battery was worse that useless though, it would last about 2 mins! I'm sure I have another one lying around somewhere though, so if I find it, I mught throw it on next free listing day!

After an evening of ale and reminiscing of younger days. A week later I found that I'd ordered 2 Subutteo teams, at quite a cost for one of them! It was a Liverpool team from the 70's and cost £36. The other team cost £4.67 and was unpainted. My uncle asked why I didn't just paint the secons set in a classic kit and try and flog them on. So I painted the second set in the style of 1969-70 Everton team who won the championship. I sold them both for £52.98. I made it clear in the description that I had painted one of the teams, and it made me wonder why the buyer didn't jus buy 2 plain teams and paint them their selves?
I put it down to them being as drunk as I was when I thought I wanted to play carpet football again!

I was having a tidy up and I came across the box for my iPhone. When I'd bought it I'd got the cables and phone out and started playing with it. I nver went back to the box and never went back to the instructions.
On a whim I put it on Ebay and put a Buy it now for £5. By the time I'd made a coffee and refreshed the screen it had sold. They new they were getting all the box and packaging ONLY and I had positive feedback within a week.
I am now selling my wife's netbook box and packaging and will do so with all new items I buy.

I sold the laptop, and got NINETY TWO pounds for it! :D :T

Honestly, I nearly fell over when I read how much it had got to. Especially since there was no hard drive in it!

Best of luck selling off your crazier items, people. I'm delighted to have got rid of something I would have just recycled at the tip for money, and to have reclaimed a bit of space as well. :D

Who did you sell them to as I've got some that I've been saving for recycling but if I can get money for them so much the better.

    regards

You can also recycle HP ink cartridges with Tesco for 100 points each, thats £4 in deals so might be more valuable than selling on ebay to some of you
Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/155
  • My dad does this all the time, he has an eye for going around car boots and picking up books I wouldn't look at twice and then selling them to people all over the world.
I tried to emulate him and bought a little red book on masonic rituals (no bigger than a Giddeon Bible) for 50p, I sold it for £15. I don't know if I'm brave enough to do try it again.
