So thing twice before even taking from site waste disposal centres never mind scrapyards
It's plain f****** ridiculous.
When I take stuff to a recycling centre I'm not giving it to the site owners except as scrap; their job is to recycle materials not re-sell complete items. Before everything went privatised the contents of those skips would technically be the property of the council - and the council answer to the public who put the stuff there in the first place.
If the former owner of the guitar and speakers had any say in the matter I'm sure he or she would have been happy to let the guy have them.0 -
I have managed to sell used nappies for a pretty good price (clean, washable, used once but too bulky to go under my sons trousers). Also brand new postage stamps - not so unusual except that the buyer paid more than the face value.0

I'm keeping my eye on a broken fridge that's on there now, we've just had to pay to get rid of about 14 of them but there are still about 6 here. Fingers crossed!0

I'm thinking of selling my old, broken laptop. Apparently there are people who buy things like that, repair them, then sell them on. Wonder how much it will be worth...Please call me 'Pickle'

Great great thread!
I always wondered about this: I put on my used argos value range shredder starting .99. I had bought it from argos at 7.77. It sold for 7.50 and there was 2.50 postage! Why didnt they just buy it from argos???
I also listed a well used flask BIN / best offer for 9pounds (bought for 11pounds). there was a similar flask, used only once starting at .99p but was going to end in 2 days. My flask was bought 9pounds! The bidding for the newer one ended at 2 pounds!!! Why didnt they just buy the other one?! Anyway, so, don't always list a price you see on ebay, you may get loads for it!
Never ceases to amaze me!0 -

I've just sold mine on ebay. I looked at completed listings to get an idea of how much they were going for. Then I put it on last Sunday (free listing) with a low starting price and a buy it now and it sold in less than an hour. :T Now I'm thinking I should have put it on for more! :rolleyes:0 -
I bought an XBox 360 for £75. It broke a few months later, and sold all the parts off individually for £75 after postage. Didn't cost me a thing to own that XBox for a few months. Glad I didn't buy one new!
I also bought a BMW 320 engine for 0.99p (probably because the seller didn't offer postage so nobody else bid), and I relisted it with postage. It sold for £160!
I've done the same with drum kits - search for large items offered near you without postage, and sell them on either with postage or at least delivery options to the buyer. I've made around £100 profit on 5 drum kits so far. Takes a bit of research so you know what you're buying, but it can pay off.
From my work in IT I've also accumulated a number of random cables (USB, IEC Power leads, KVM cables) and these sell pretty well.0 -

Typical! It's a hard one to gauge. with something like that.
Just be happy that you got rid of it. It's that bit less clutter for the house.
I've removed the hard drive from mine, so I'm not sure how much that will affect the value.
WIll worry about mine when I have more time and will let you know.
P.S. Did you sell yours with the power lead? My brother suggested selling it seperate and getting some money that way. And the battery. Not sure how much it would sell for without those, though. Please call me 'Pickle'
