    Tip:

If you've got small, light items, put them up for sale internationally; the "International Site Visibility" option only costs a few pence (5p for 99p listings). Even if you don't get winning bids from abroad you may get a couple of extra bids to bump-up the price.

A word of warning: 1 centimetre above the International Site Visibility button is the "Featured First" button... It is not a few pence, it's a wallet thumping £44.95. Click that box by accident and you'll be in for a shock. Ebay can be sneaky crooks so always review your listing and check the listing fee before you click the Continue button.

I have just sold my very old personal CD player for £5.25. I was gonna throw it in the bin. Im loving the free 99p listings.

I’m back and more determined than ever!!!!!
  • I'm utterly broke and stumbled across this thread in a link from the newsletter: today I've listed 14 things including make-up, fake tan, a wetsuit, some kinky boots and concert tickets. One had a bid and most have watchers, I'm v excited to see them sell!

I've literally scoped the whole house for things to sell. It's addictive! :T

The best ever sale I had on ebay was one Christmas, I got together all my "freebie" make up sample from Estee Lauder.............................you know the ones buy 2 items and get a free make up bag with lippie, creams etc

The rejuvinating stuff went for about £8 each and they were tiny bottles (5ml) I netted just over £100 after fees

Reading this has inspired me. I might try selling the June 1999 copy of FHM I found whilst clearing out old boxes recently. And the £5 off fragrances voucher I got from Boots the other day - I have no need of fragrances so if I can get a couple of quid for it I'll be laughing.

Credit Crunch ideas here so am bumping this thread again ( Sorry)
  • I've sold perfume bottles that I had lying around - not even major names, they were all The Body Shop. I'd been given them as presents but I have my favourite perfume(s) that I wear and they'd been sitting on my shelf gathering dust for a few years. Got about £8 each I think.

I've also saved the sachets you get free in magazines that I don't want (I usually use them but sometimes they aren't appropriate, e.g. for brunettes when I'm blonde, for oily skin when I've got dry, etc.) and sold them in a batch of about 7. Only got a couple of quid for them but given that they were free and I was listing other stuff anyway not bad!
(Could possibly do this with some of the MSE freebies too, especially brand names like Nivea or whatever, just make sure it's well advertised that it's a sample and not full size.)
  • I usually co-incide items by bands with a tour, album release or something siginificant for them, there are more people looking for the bands stuff at this time. I have sold a lot of rock n roll memorabilia, autographs, photographs, vinyl etc and this is the best time to sell it. People even buy used ticked stubbs from concerts, although I cant bring myself to sell these.
Can you tell I am an ebay addict?

Another good one is selling DVDs of a movie as its sequel comes out at the cinema. I did this by accident last November when I was putting a load of stuff on for the Christmas rush. I sold a Madagascar DVD as I got given two at the same Christmas a couple of years before and they'd both been sitting on my shelf, it just so happened that Madagascar 2 had just been released. Put it on BIN for £12.99 and it sold overnight! Should probably have sold the second one too!
