Things You Never Thought You Could Sell

  • Well, I've sold plenty of things through the years. Everything ever collected, bought kept mint condition, things not read, stacks of books, collections of magazines, whatever I had I knew was collectable, and would get a bigh bid. Or attract a certain bidder. Though more a case of 'things you'd thought you never be selling than anything'.
    Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

    I've seen this on auctions a lot - why?

    The postal service in Italy is notorious for theft and damaged goods; anything you send to Italy has about a 50/50 chance of reaching the buyer! I know the Royal Mail isn't perfect but we've got a fantastic service compared to Italy.

    Spain is a bit dodgy too, I'm happy to send items to anywhere in Western Europe but I'll have nothing to do with Italy or Spain.

    Things that we sold last week;
    • a load of old wood
    • a load of old copper piping
    • bits of broken jewellery and single earings
    • a load of teddies
    • Some old spotlights.
    Basically, EVERYTHING in our house that gets to the unwanted, or surplus to requirement status gets sold. Small items get boxed up. It all goes to the auction house and we get a cheque. Good Regular sellers in auctions can negotiate very low commission rates, we're on a flat 10%

    I sold a used saute pan in good condition, I was very surprised the price it reached and it did have a celebrity name attached to it.

    Parceled up and sent today. I've found out one more that is in mint condition which I have replaced with a Le Creuset and hope this does as well too. Only problem is I don't have a box to put it in so will have to do a 'collect in person only'

    Does anyone know where you can buy large cardboard box to put a 28cm stockpot size pan into?

    Can you get one from a supermarket? Or most shops, charity shops etc would have loads of boxes to get rid off.

    Or you could try freecycle
    Not been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/155

    Thanks Jesa for the ideas, will try supermarket and shops to see first and hopefully get a couple. I'm daft sometimes and don't think about the obvious!
