Things You Never Thought You Could Sell

I have just got back on the ebay selling bandwagon and am intending to list 2 broken IXUS 70 cameras - 1 which is water damaged, the other which I bought damaged in order to use the screen to fix another camera.
I bought another IXUS 70 which was advertised as faulty as it couldn't write to a memory card. When I got it - it was fine, the seller clearly hadn't checked if the memory card was OK! I have never had a problem with it since! Bargain for £9 all in!
In case you are wondering about why I have so many cameras, we use them with underwater housings for diving. It's pointless buying a top of the range camera when you can get such good results with this camera and of course the cameras are so much cheaper. If the housing floods underwater - its not the end of the world.
I have had more luck selling mobile phone boxes than phones themselves! I have sold two on BIN offers for over £6 each!
I have previously sold a small portable broken Yamaha organ. One of my friends' kids trod on it and broke a key off. It was sold as in need of repair and I got £8 for it plus postage! Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

I started readint his thread this morning. Its now 4pm and im done!
I also have wrote a list of everything that i have that people have mentioned ready to sell when i get home later
At the moment im listing two wedding dresses, last night at 6 days there were no bids or watchers, so hopefully they'll get something.
I have a whole spare room full of cr/-\p, and freebies that i've collected in the past 5 years and didnt want to throw away.
I now cant wait to get home lol x0 -
Don't worry if you don't see any bidders yet because many people will wait until the last day or last hour (or last second) but getting watchers early on is a good sign so if you've got none after the third day you probably won't get bids.
To save money on eBay charges you can host pictures on a site like PhotoBucket or ImageShack and mention to bidders that you have items for sale off-site. There's nothing to stop you putting links from a single eBay auction to descriptions of the rest of your stuff. It's against the rules on PhotoBucket to advertise but if you are discreet and don't use the "£" sign they won't notice.
I never pay for extra photos on eBay either, I pay 12p for the first one that appears in the auction description but I hyperlink the rest for free; you can post dozens of pics for nothing!

Two security tips:
don't send anything to Italy.
If you get an email saying you have received a Paypal payment make sure it's not a fake email! Only trust your Paypal account or eBay internal email.0 -
I go through phases of selling on ebay, usually after a de-junk session. I always check completed listings to see if my items are likely to sell for a price I consider worthwhile before I list and if they aren't then they go direct to FreeCycle or charity shops.
I always start my listings at 99p unless I know the item is likely to sell for a lot higher. That way my listing fees are at a minimum and I've found my lower starting price actually attracts bidders to my listing if there are a few similar listings live. I choose not to post overseas which means I don't get the big bidders, but it also means I don't have the hassle of complicated overseas postage.
If something doesn't sell first time I relist, but if it still fails to sell it gets FreeCycled or charity-bagged. I probably have a 90% success rate but not many high value sales, but for a little bit of extra effort that money ends up in my pocket rather than the bin.
I don't think I've sold many weird things, but I'm constantly surprised at the bidding wars that mean winners end up paying a lot more for something second hand than they would if they bought it brand new. One example was a 2-pack of babys' dummies - new and unused - which would have cost £1.99 in the shops. It sold for more than £7 because two people REALLY wanted it!!:hello: Proud to be dealing with my debts :j

The first photo on ebay is free so you don't have to pay 12p anymore. However advertising sales outside of ebay is against ebay rules and they will remove any listing found to be doing that so I wouldn't recommend it.
If you have a hotmail account you can store photos there with some very basic HTML skills, or copied and pasted HTML, and link into your listings for free photosNot been here in years! Hi everyone. Make £10 a day challenge = £78.45/1550 -
Hi all!!!!! Been well inspired by reading this Ebay thread.....got the bug to clear the house of junk.....(I mean useful items I no longer need!!!!)-sold on Ebay in the past but not much of late.....houseful of me and my 6 sons(!!!!) and hardly room to move for "things" everywhere.....got a few ideas of things to sell that I wouldn't have in the past....It's stange how people will pay more for things than the full price...just been to Wilkinsons and was browsing the load of 75% off things.....came across some England curtains...only £2.50-bought the 2 pairs that were there and the 2 floor cushions and bins which were also 75% off-with the intention of keeping one set and perhaps sell the other.....just recently discovered the advanced search feature on Ebay....brill!!!! I've put loads of items on watching in the past to see what they sell for if I have the same things to sell-the curtains have sold for £9.99 plus £5.65 p and p.....just today!!!! wish there had been 10 pairs for £2.50 now!!!!! guess I'll been visiting places like Wilko's frequently now to see what else I can buy really cheaply and sell on!!!!! I have a target of £381 to raise by de-cluttering to pay for a Blackpool caravan hol in August for me and 3 of my boys-we can only afford to goif I raise this from selling our stuff!!!!!0

Inspired by this thread, I've hunted out some old tat and found two pairs of headsets from when I worked in call centres about 10 years ago. All I have is the name of the company that makes them, so I've searched that on ebay and the new ones are listed at £55 or more!
Obviously, mine aren't worth that but I can't say what they work with, so I'm just gonna list them as that with a 99p start so no listing fees, or would anyone recommend doing different?GOD BLESS DURAN DURAN
