It means Buy It Now (i think!?) So you can buy it rather than bidding on it.
Wondering how to have a life & not rack up more debts...
  • A friend of mine once listed his own belly button fluff on eBay for a joke. Someone picked up on the auction and it got a mention on local radio. It eventually went for over £5! The buyer also left glowing feedback!!!
  • Great thread :T

Don't forget old guidebooks, ticket stubs and programmes.

We had a 20p cover price guidebook that sold for £82

a football programme and ticket stub which went for £120 :D

As you say, it's great what people will buy.

Well I found 3 strange heavy things in the loft when we were moving house which had been left there when we moved in - they turned out to be old quad valve amps. I took some good pics and said in the description that I didn't know whether they worked (which was true) - any way after questions from all over the world.....£720 :-)

My ex and I once sold some of his old Bus & Coach magazines (about 40 of them - none particularly rare) for £96!

I sell a lot of weird convention exclusive giveaways and usually the tackiest things going make the most money. It's very weird what some people will pay money for.

Oh, I just remembered. I've also sold '2 for the price of 1' & 'Kids Go Free' for attractions that I've got free from Wilkos, Somerfield and the like

Can't beleive this thread went to sleep it's totally compulsive - but my eyes are hurting now so will have to stop for a while.

I listed a bathroom suite fourteen of which I'd bought from a hotel which was being converted into apartments. I bought them for £20 each and sold the first for £70. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to repeat this great profit with the second one which didn't sell so was quickly disheartened. I now have 13 bathroom suites in my garage!!! I was about to freecycle them but I think I'll try aggain. And stick on a load of other "clutter" that would otherwise take up space in my house.

My motivation for selling on ebay/decluttering is if I do a good job I'm gonna subscribe to a house swap website and get lots of nice free holidays!

Cuttings - from the press, magazines - I dread to think how many Heat Magazines I have chucked over the years :(

does anyone know if there's a market for cuttings on any alternatives to ebay?

Fantastic thread!!! I have been selling on Ebay for ages and still did not know some of the unusual unexpected items that will go. I have just dug out my DH iPOD Black 8GB Nano which he recently damaged the screen on and is now not working as a result, so going to try my luck.

I am fundraising for my trek to the Sahara Desert next year and have been trying to think of ways to raise funds other than sponsorship so I will definitely be selling some more unusual items in aid of my quest.

    Thanks again for this thread!!!!!
My mantra is "Never pay full price!" ;)

I loved this thread last year, pleased to see its return.

Similar to the broken camera already mentioned, broken plasma/LCD TVs go for up to £150. I am currently listing my TV that is dead after a lightning strike. Even though I have clearly stated this, I have already had an offer of £80. The lightning could have fried every component in the TV, but still it is worth £80 to someone! (The price new is about £500.)

I guess if you are an expert repairer, you probably know from experience what is likely to be damaged by a lightning zap. Or, perhaps they want it to use for display, so it doesn't matter if it works as long as it looks OK.

So, if any expensive gadgets stop working or get broken, don't add them to landfill; make yourself some money instead.

Edit: A day later, the bidding for the BROKEN TV is up to £155!!!!! I just can't believe this.

Edit 2: It finally sold for £186. The guy who bought it told me he works in the electrical trade and intends to repair it then give it as a present to a family member. There were several bidders, so clearly quite a few people have a use for something like this.
