This thread is very inspirational and even after years of selling on ebay, you just never know it all. I'm going to put some of this into action as I'm now finally committed to start tackling my debts.0

I've sold my first 5 items. 2 video games, a cross stitch pattern and a couple of books and made just under £400

Last week I had a clear out of the garden/sheds, and listed a load of the kids larger toys, 99p free listings. I did it more as a way to get rid of them for nothing, than have to make a trip to the tip. I sold a pedal tractor, and they paid us £10 to deliver - £26, and they also bought a pedal go-kart of us that was rusty, for £10.
I sold an inflatable mini sized bouncy castle for £70, and I paid £99 for it about 6 years ago, so I was really chuffed with that.
As a point of interest, my DD has just started selling her sons' old toys on Netmums as there are no fees to pay. For the most part they seem to go to local people who are happy to collect, but she does make p&p an option and she's been pleased with the results
The fees levied by eBay and Paypal are offputting.......20% in all :eek:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Posted a wardrobe on ebay last night. I was going to take it to the tip as while it's fine when it's together the screw holes are all skaggy it has a big chip in the middle panel and one of the doors has a large scratch. My theory was that if it sold for .99p it would save me asking a friend if I could use his van... it already has 5 watchers!0

I have the same logic with larger items; used to give them away on Freecycle but got fed up with having to trawl through replies (which often failed on basic politeness) and offering to people who then show up late. If the buyer is similarly late at least the few quid I get makes it a little more bearable!0 -
Need some help guys, i have a bag, which i bought at a raffle for a tenner, it is a Vivienne westwood bag.
The thing is i am undecided whether i should sell or not, it has only ever been used twicee and never by me.
What is stopping me is, when i biught it a more mature lady said to me, you keep that for a few years, vivienne westwood will be dead soon as she is old and when that happens the price of her stuff will rocket.
It is still in its dustbag, do i or don't i?

Help!
You need to ask yourself one question.
Do I need the money?
I have a few gold soveriegns and as we know gold is at it's highest but I don't need to sell them so let them stay where they are.
I would say keep it for a few years but if you need the cash sell it. Quite subjective really.
HTHThe art is not in making money, but in keeping it!!!0 -
I agree with the lady who said her stuff will rocket when she's dead. I'd keep hold of it until then, personally.0
