I have thought seriously about selling my old shoes to the foot fetishists in the past, haha... I work on my feet all day, and regularly replace my work shoes because they are always absolutely minging after a few months and only fit for the bin. There is a certain group of men who seem to pay big money for things like that! I have no idea why? I just can't bring myself to do it though... I don't think it is worth them possibly stalking me forever for the sake of a few quid!

Do it! I do it and I have sold one pair of shoes for £28 + postage in the past. Most of the time, shoes are worth more when they are ready for the bin! :)

    Love the thread!!

I already sell quite a bit of my stuff on ebay, but it tends to be the more decent stuff that i know will sell well in the first instance, reading this thread made me realise that i don't use my free 99p listings each month, so im going to give some of the ideas raised here ago.... such a shame i binned my old faithful sandals last week!!

I once sold a collection of 1980s erasers, thought i might get around a tenner for them, they sold for £250....Apprently one of them was extremely rare kutswana, whatever one of those is...i didnt have a clue and was going to take them to the carboot and sell them at 10p each

    Hi all,

Reading through this thread it is wonderfull what people will buy!

I have a pile of clothes/shoes & books I have been wanting to sell for a while now, defo gonna get started with them tonight. Few questions though.

Ebay seller fee's, just noticed you now get charged a fee when your item sells, how long has this been in place? I have a few dresses and shoes, hoping to go for about £30 each, is it worthwhile putting on ebay, or would another place be better.

Also, books, got a pile of used books, doubt I will get much for them, thats if they even get sold. Would Amazon or ebay be better for these?

    Thanks for help xxxx

I've got loads of old Marie Claire magazines (from Dec 1989 to about 1997 - not every issue) makes quite interesting reading and it's great looking at the adverts - everything looks so dated!

Also some Vogue magazines from 1968, 1969, 1972 and 1974.

Would these sell does anyone know?

try looking them up on the search function and also look under closed listings, then you'll see if anyone has bought them in the past and for how much - I don't think magazines are that popular though, probably the more specialised / hobby ones have a better chance but that just a guess

Thanks I didn't know you could look under closed listings - handy though!

Ebay charges a listing fee (For items starting over 99p), and also a Final Value Fee, which is 10% of the amount is sells for.
(At least I think it's still 10%, unless it's changed?!?)

All the pricing/fees info is on the site if you have a look.

They have Free listing Days / Weekends fairly regularly though, so if you want to wait to list them then, you will save the Listing Fee, although will still pay the Final Value Fee when it sells.

    Hope this helps :)

Books-wise, I always check both ebay and Amazon before listing as sometimes there can be a big difference in price. Thanks to this thread I've just listed a load of books, computer games, a handbag etc on eBay and Amazon and within 30 mins have sold one of the books, not bad going so far!

Im enjoying watching this thread paired with this one:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1988327

I bet there are people going home from the car boot saying to themselves 'beggar me, I can't believe someone bought that!'

I'm not disparaging the buys on there - I've been jealous of some f them myself, but putting the two threads together does make me smile sometimes - one man's meat....

    Some random things I've sold:

Top trumps collected from the daily mirror last year - 55p
    Scientific Calculator - £2.51
    Compass - £1.05
A psychology handbook from a home learning course I did
    Animal stickers - 50p
2x 3d glasses (free from the cinema) with the lenses pushed out listed as geek glasses - 99p
A really old bottle of T/gel which has been in the cupboard for about 8 years and half used - £1.20

I've found perfumes and handbags sell quite well. Also I definietly agree with whoever said about relisting items - things which have had no bids for 2 or 3 listings have fetched quite a bit on the fourth or fifth listing :)
