Hi ajs2013

I had the same problem when I switched from friends and family to territory. I canvassed fully 3 times and now I only post books through the houses that put them out again! I am still not getting a massive response but I do now get a few orders and 1 lady regularly orders £20 - £30 which is nice.

Don't be disheartened keep trying but try and not let it start costing you more money in books and stuff than you are earning.

Good luck!!

Hi ajs :)

Firstly try not to be too disheartened, if people have been messed about by a previous rep they might be waiting until you deliver the next book before they order, plus of course remember some people will be on holiday/going on holiday so won't order due to when its delivered. Definitely keep delivering brochures for at least the next 3 times, apart from people who ask you not to of course. One way to stop it costing you too much extra is to make use of the previous campaigns brochure, as we can always order from the current and the previous books - so if you don't deliver a book to everyone on your allocated territory in one campaign (say c12), then during c13 you can give those people a c12 book as its new to them.

As you've already found, Facebook etc is a great way to get customers, there is a guide on the first post of this thread with some useful tips for using Facebook to increase your business.

Another way to make use of brochures once you're more established, and not wanting to 'actively' canvass your territory, is to label up old brochures with your details and a little welcome note and say if they want to see a current brochure to contact you, if they don't accept your apologies and kindly dispose/recycle of the book. This saves you spending money out on books, and does still gain you new customers even when you've had those streets for over a year, as people move, loose the rep they used to order from at work etc. and you aren't collecting in those books so it doesn't take long.

Thank you both for your replies. I am trying not to get disheartened and when i wrote the post I had had 1 response from my designated roads (79 houses). My order was placed tonight and pleased to say I managed to get 3 orders from the territory (only £15 between 3 customers) but guess that is better than nothing. My total was just under £215 so not too bad for a first effort i think although maybe im deluded lol. I will definitely re post to the same houses (bar the ones that said no to me personally) and still have some flats to try out so will see if i get any improvements but was thinking of asking for another road if business is still slow after c13 as there is alot of territory available near me so want to grab it before it gets snapped up by other new reps. Definitely going to continue posting on facebook forums and other sites i can find and see if i can drum up a bit more business. My aim is to try and find a steady amount of orders each month. (not high orders just steady amounts)
That old brochure trick is a good one never thought of that might just do that too :)
Trying to log into Avon Connects but having a few technical issues so will be on the phone monday trying to get re registered so I can see if anything on there can help boost sales.
Love this thread and the advice you are all giving is fab. Keep up the good work nice to get advice from reps in the know :) Thank you again :)

Here is what I put on old brochures, I can get 6 to a page, then I just cut them out and staple one to the front of a brochure:
Calling all old/new Avon customers!
Avon has celebrated over 125 years!

Here’s a slightly out of date brochure to give you an idea of Avon products/prices.

I run a loyalty scheme where you get a FREE GIFT with every 6 orders that you place with me, plus throughout the year I run exclusive offers!

If you’d like to see a current catalogue (with no obligation to order) please contact me, Laura on:
home number /mobile number
email address

(If this is of no interest, please accept my apologies for bothering you and kindly recycle/dispose of the book.)

Hi toejumper!

Whoever your sales leader (the person that signed you up to Avon) should be able to help you by giving you your account number. Surprised they didnt help you log in for the first time to be honest.

Double check your emails as well, you should also have been emailed it from avon (might be in your junk folder).
