Knew I would be back in touch! I have literally spent all day sorting out a domain name and a gmail account for my POB. My next question is how do I take the long link in Connects and somehow put it to my domain name. I then want to start a Facebook page, but that might be for tomorrow - unless you can confirm it is easy to set up!0

Kinkine - you'll need to go to the website of the company you bought the domain name from. Log into your account (when you bought the domain you'll have automatically created an account). They often call logging into your account, logging into your "control panel". It's just the behind-the-scenes bit where you see what domain names you have, renew them, and also see any other services you bought (like hosting and email, although you don't need these). Then you need to do a redirect (sometimes called a 301 redirect as well). Each domain name company has a different way of doing this. You might be able to see an obvious link (look for words like "redirect" or "web forwarding"). If not, use their help or FAQ section and they should have a step-by-step guide. Or you can ring them. Doing a redirect means you're telling your domain name to jump straight over to your unique POB URL (the long, messy one).I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.
I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I have been at it most of today - searching the help, and then live chat that just kept directing me to buy a mailbox.
Today I have purchased a domain, and then eventually managed to link it to a gmail address with the same name, which I also created today.
Can I forward the domain to the POB address as well, or should I take the gmail one off? Apparently people can e-mail me to the domain address, it will go to my gmail and if I reply it will show the gmail address unless I purchase a mailbox. Not looking to spend money if I don't have to, and to be honest it might seem obvious to you, but it might as well be in Urdu for me!0 -
Hopefully someone knows as I have to say I haven't used the POB yet my customers aren't that Internet savvy!Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

Would be interested to find out how to do this too as may look to do this in the future if sales are profitable to continue. The only thing I know about the POB is that you can copy and paste the link and send it to people or put it on your facebook page (which is what I do) and your customers should be able to just click on it and order direct on that.
The POB orders will show up at the bottom of your avon account home page and apparently all you have to do is click and accept the order and it automatically goes onto your account on your existing order you have on there.
No idea though sorry about how to link the domain name and the POB as never looked into this yet. Trying to spread the costs of this business thing over several campaigns so I actually make something from this.0 -
Thanks Lozza - a lot of my customers are customer savvy, and I am finding it harder to keep in touch during the summer holidays, hence the POB.
AJS2013 - I got my domain name for £12.46 including VAT for three years, but I could have got it for about £7 for one year. It seems the longer you take it out for, the cheaper it gets. They wanted to sell me a mailbox for 82p a month, and although that doesn't sound much I don't want to spend it if I don't need to. I'm sure I don't pay on my other business e-mail.0 -

Sorry, don't mean to confuse you more, but I have no idea how the domain name managed to get redirected to an email account. You can only redirect the domain to one location at a time, and I wasn't aware than an email was a possible "location" to go to.
Which company did you buy it from? I've had experience using domains and hosting packages from 123-reg, Godaddy and Evohosting so will be able to talk you through it if it's one of those. Even if it's not, if you let me know the company's name I'll try to find the right help page for it on their site.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. I tend to sit down and check through my orders with both current and previous Brochure next to me and some post it notes, then when I spot any creative ordering opportunities I write it on the post it note and stick it to the order form so I know when I'm entering the orders.
Exactly what I do Lozza!
I had my first POB order the other day and I had no idea what to do with it, but figured it out eventually! :rotfl:
