Sorry, don't mean to confuse you more, but I have no idea how the domain name managed to get redirected to an email account. You can only redirect the domain to one location at a time, and I wasn't aware than an email was a possible "location" to go to.
Hi Geek, don't worry - I am easily confused! I think what I had done is forward e-mails to the gmail. I got the domain from 123-reg, and they said if I wanted to reply to e-mails I would have to buy a mailbox from them. Sorry if I confused you!0 -
Ah, I see what you mean now. So you have an email address like this: "name@domainname.co.uk" and that's being forwarded over to Gmail.
If you think you were mis-sold the email and it's an extra you don't want you can try getting a refund. I accidentally let a hosting package renew (£100) and rang them as I soon as I saw it on the bank statement. They refunded me straight away. A Gmail email account will be just fine. My husband has business emails and the Gmail is more reliable! It also filters spam well - I don't get any in the inbox. Actually the worst of my husband's emails is a 123-reg one. It's awful - crashes, won't log in for half an hour at a time - so if you can get out of it I'd recommend it.
I'll send you a link in PM to a video I made showing how to do a re-direct with 123-reg. I probably can't put it on the thread because it's a video that ties in to a book I sell and MSE wouldn't want that being promoted on here.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Thanks Geek, I looked at your tutorial and managed to successfully re-direct it. You saved me a lot of time and a sore head! :A
The e-mail came free with the domain name. You can only receive e-mails, not answer them unless you purchase the mailbox. That is why I forwarded it to my gmail. If you reckon 123-reg email is so bad I will just avoid it altogether and use my dedicated gmail.
So, the job for today is to create a Facebook (page? profile?) and put the POB on there as well.
Thanks again, your help was much appreciated!0 -
Good to hear the email wasn't paid for. If you want to you can just put your Gmail one on things. I'm not sure if forwarding would be effected in the same way that my husband's account is (he can view and answer emails), but as I say, a Gmail account will do the job perfectly.
Facebook - a page instead of a profile is preferred for a few reasons but the main ones being: Facebook doesn't want profiles to be used for business and can shut them down, it stops your friends who aren't interested in Avon being annoyed by Avon-related posts, and you get to see insights about your page (stats) showing what's working and what isn't (you can't see that on a profile). If you go back to that video about doing a re-direct, then go to my channel and browse through you'll find a one about how to set up a Facebook page. I think I waffle for about a minute at the start!
In general, Facebook is good for connecting with existing friends/contacts who are okay to deliver an order to once every 3 weeks, but less convenient to also drop a brochure off to. Bear in mind that your delivery range will be pretty limited - some people's more limited than others. To borrow a phrase from someone else, it's "the icing on the cake" and if you have territory that's still the best place to focus your time on at the moment.I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Thanks for that info. I have just been given territory, but thought if I got the POB and Facebook up and running I could do a wee note on the brochures and give folk the choice.
I think I will just stick with the gmail - I know my way around that and all my other ones are gmail.
Off to check out your tutorial - thanks in advance!0 -
I find Facebook useful, it gains me a few new customers but it also means I can promote products & offers to existing customers, and remind them when order/ delivery dates are to make it harder for them to forget!Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0

Hi guys, I have a quick query. Having got my domain and Facebook page sorted I have got two orders through my POB. :T
When I receive the e-mail confirmation of the order, I get a link to press. When you press the link it takes you to the order, and you accept or reject it. When you press continue it takes you to the Avon order page as if it was starting a new order.
Am I right in thinking that if I press "regular" it will just add to the already saved order. I have just been going "home" and down to the bottom to "view saved order" and doing it that way. Hope this makes sense!0 -
Hi can anyone please help me. I'm a rep but does the skin so soft still contain citronella to keep the midges away? I heard it had changed formula and no longer works as an insect repellant. Thanks0

The Original dry oil spray still works as an insect repellent (still has citronella).I used to have my Avon turnover (sales) here. They've been removed because it's not appropriate to talk about those kinds of sales as if they're realistic for a new Rep to aim for.
I signed up at the right time, right place, and was very lucky.

Hi, I received a few orders for the towel and turban set in campaign 13 but checking the online invoice they are sending the hair turban but the towels are out of stock and will be sent with the next order. Will Avon still require the payment for them this campaign even though the main part of the set is missing and the customers will not pay until they get the full order?0
