I loved the double ended eye pencils. Won't buy anything now tho as they've sneakily gone back to testing on animals
Hopefully this might help:
This was posted on our Avon websites earlier this year - hope it helps. Good luck, whatever you decide.
"Animal testing rumours: the facts
Some of you have asked us about misleading claims that are currently being made against Avon, and said that you would like to have reassurance for you and your customers that we do not test on animals. Below you will find information from our corporate responsibilities team along with a website link which you can direct your customers to.
Some animal rights organisations have made false and misleading claims about Avon's animal welfare practices. You can be confident that Avon does not test products on animals.
Avon Products, Inc. & ConsumerSafety:
Commitment to Science…Respect for Animal Welfare
The safety of our consumers is of primary concern to Avon. We are committed to selling only safe products, using only safe ingredients in our cosmetics products and complying with applicable regulations in the more than 100 countries in which Avon products are sold. Within this commitment, we also have a deep respect for animal welfare.
In June 1989 Avon announced a permanent end to animal testing of our products, including testing done in outside laboratories. Avon was the first major cosmetic company in the world to end animal testing.
· For more than 20 years Avon has independently substantiated the safety of its products without animal testing.
· Avon does not conduct nor request animal testing in order to substantiate the safety or efficacy of any of its products or raw ingredients.
· Our approach to safety evaluation utilizes data from computational modeling, in vitro (test tube/cell culture) evaluation and clinical tests on human volunteers, as well as utilization of pre-existing data.
· Some select products may be required by law in a few countries to undergo additional safety testing, which potentially includes animal testing, under the directive of a government or health agency. In these instances, Avon will first attempt to persuade the requesting authority to accept non-animal test data. When those attempts are unsuccessful, Avon must abide by local laws and submit the products for additional testing. In 2011, this affected threetenths of one percent of Avon's products.
Avon has been active in the development, implementation and acceptance of alternative test methods since the 1980's, working to identify and develop new testing alternatives with other cosmetic companies and with external organizations. Avon's Vice President, Product Safety & Integrity serves on the Scientific Advisory Panel of The Institute of In Vitro Sciences, Inc., a non-profit research and testing organization dedicated to the advancement of invitro (non-animal) methods worldwide. Recently Avon became a Founding Sponsor of the American Society for Cellular Computational Toxicology. Similarly, Avon continues to support the Fund for the Replacement of Animals in Medical Experiments (FRAME) in the UK, the Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing at Johns Hopkins University in the US, and the European Partnership for Alternative Approaches to Animal Testing.
Our efforts were recognized as far back as 1993 at the World Congress on Alternatives and Animal Use in the Life Sciences: Education, Research andTesting. Also in 1993, Avon was presented with a Recognition Award from the Johns Hopkins University Center for Alternatives to Animal Testing in the US for our dedication to the principles of the 3 R's (refinement, reduction, replacement) and the use of alternative tests for safety evaluation.
Reflecting the same commitment to animal welfare, the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade does not fund medical research utilizing animals. Through 2011, the Avon Crusade raised more than $740 million for access to care and finding a cure for breast cancer."
(Extract from Avon Website March, 2012)
essentially if the country they will be selling in requires animal testing to be conducted, then they will if they have no alternative - the same as any other company wanting to sell in that country. For the most part, Avon don't, and won't, test on animals, particularly as it is such a good selling point for them.Avon Lady since 2009 - I help on the Avon hints & tips thread to help other reps/new sales leaders as I was helped so much by it when I first started out :A0 -

Yes, you're quite right - you can only back-order one campaign BUT.... Up to a certain date (if it's worthwhile) it IS possible to input an additional order on your back campaign, thus enabling you to order from the previous campaign too.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Can't remember if I'm allowed to ask or not, but I have a customer desperate to get a kids detangling spray before the 18th July. My next order is the 27th.
Is there anyone in the Worthing/Chichester areas who might have one she could buy please? Am happy to arrange pick up.
Thanks,

Hi everyone,
I'm seriously considering signing up as a rep and I've slowly been working my way through this thread over the last few weeks.
One thing I've noticed from reading the thread is that it seems to be luck as to whether you get a good sales leader so I just wondered if anybody has got any advice on how to find a good one - what questions should I ask them to get a feel for their ability to support me?
I'm sure I'll have more questions for you soon ...0 -

Well done you! :T Yes, a good upliner is worth their weight in gold. What part of the country are you in? This thread used to be a lot busier than it is now and am sure there are some good, helpful SLs, who maybe don't look in as often now as they used to. There is another thread where some of us 'voted' as to where we are in the UK so maybe that would help you too? (Feel free to PM me with your postcode if you prefer not to put it up in open forum and I'll see if I can point you in the right direction.)
Good luck with your own Avon business; hope you're in time to click into C12 so you can get the £150 worth of freebies!! :j
PS: As you've probably already realised, you can start earning as an Avon rep without a penny piece in your pocket - no kits to buy/rent, no obligation to order every campaign, Avon is totally flexible to everyone's lifestyle.Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

Hey, can anyone help me with a couple of problems.
I no longer wish to do Avon and have products to return, will the courier collect these?
Also, I owe about £130 and am unable to pay it until my next payday (just had my MOT and spent a lot more than I'd have liked to!!). I wondered how long I have to pay before they start sending letters? Is it worth me ringing them and explaining I will be paying it next month?
Thanks,

Hi Ruth,
Don't worry, a couple of suggestions:
1. If your upliner or another rep is nearby, you could ask to leave your returns with them and the carrier will uplift from there when they next deliver. Make sure you give them all the paperwork tho and you get your receipt back i.e. to prove you have returned the goods.
2. Failing that, contact your upliner and ask them to arrange for a special collection from you when the carriers are next in your area. (If you have the carrier's no. you may be able to do this yourself but not sure.)
3. If you have a credit card, you can ring Fastrack and pay by credit card over the phone. If not, it's worth ringing Avon to let them know when you will be able to pay your bill. If you can pay anything off at all then it will help your case. Not totally sure but late payment charges seem to be added when you go over into 2nd or maybe even 3rd campaign following. To give you an idea, Avon yesterday closed off C11 and one rep on my downline hasn't yet paid her C10 invoice but no late payment charges have been added yet. Know she rang Avon so sure that helps.
Good luck, just repost if you have any other queries (or I've confused you! :rotfl:)Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon)

PPS: That thread has been dormant for quite a while so to all our newbies, welcome and please feel free to 'vote' as to where you are in the country.
