I seem to remember someone saying a while ago, that VV delivered orders ready bagged up, might have been on a previous thread from someone who decided Avon was better than VV, as you can do creative ordering :D

Thanks, yes, that accounts for the blank look..... my (potential) newbie was 'disappointed' that they would have to bag their own orders up.... Sometimes I despair at how difficult it is for some people to see the benefits of Avon!

Of course, but if they have no reps at all then it makes no difference, which was what I'd meant, to reassure them that they wouldn't have been 'made' a sl without knowing it to benefit their upliner, as if they have no reps at all there's nothing to benefit from.

Ah, yes, sorry; I misunderstood. No, of course a rep cannot be made a SL without their knowledge/consent. Having said that I do know of a former ASL, who didn't drive and was 'accoladed' for getting to that level when they only had recourse to public transport. I only met them a couple of times and was surprised how they'd achieved ASL when they seemed so shy/timid. They 'disappeared/resigned/had their account closed'..... Have no proof but I suspect they extended 'Creative Ordering' to their team so we all need to be vigilant/responsible for our own Avon accounts and how they are run.

  • Each to their own but are you sure you need so many books?

All depends on how much time you have, of course, and how long you leave a book with your customers. Am a supporter of 'knocking and asking' rather than 'stuffing and running' - both ways work and that's one of the advantages of Avon i.e. being able to choose whichever route you prefer but I've never ordered more than 30 books for myself (even when my customer list was over 110). What can I say.... am originally from Yorkshire and we're well known for being 'tight'! :rotfl:

For now I do because I'm fully canvassing all 200 houses, plus I have about 15 F&f who like to keep there's for a week. In C5 I have only just finished 120 house and C6 is due a week on Tuesday so I won't even got round on my remaining books. Once I have a customer base I'll drop to 1 for each customer and use them when they come back in to keep recanvassing and do a full recanvass every 6th to 8th campaign. This is my plan anyway. I'm still working out which houses are empty and which just keep/throw my books etc I don't intend to be ordering 60 books every campaign.
  • Well done, EE, sounds like a plan. That's the beauty of Avon i.e. being able to work it to suit you.

    Good luck.

Unless of course you're lucky enough to get 60 customers? :D

Everyone does it differently - since the beginning I've always ordered one per customer (now about 80-100 books depending on time of the year), though thats about 50 orders per campaign, inc work/family (some of which get a couple of books each to show their extended family), and some of my territory customers keep their books permanently, just texting me with their orders - saves me time collecting books in.

It means I'm spending more on books, but, with us both working full time shifts (more than full time in DH case, 56 hours a week bless him) it's always been far easier for us to buy more books so I can put one in each order, deliver the rest to the remaining customers, and then they can all be collected on the same day (usually husbands day off during the week while I'm at work :p). Isn't perfect for everyone, but suits us. I just then offer out my books when I've finished with them to my team, and if noone wants them I save them for using as expired brochures.

Just do what will suit you best - if you'll have the time to get away with less books, then obviously that's great as it means more pennies in your pocket :)

Well I got a bit curious the other day and decided to work out the stats for my territory as it currently stands - just counting people who get books

    Road A = 62 houses (including mine), 9 customers = 14%
    Road B = 18 houses, 3 customers = 16%
    Road C = 29 houses, 8 customers = 27%
    Road D = 20 houses, 3 customers = 33%
    Road E = 46 houses, 9 customers = 19%
    Road F = 32 houses, 5 customers = 15%
    Road G = 5 houses, 3 customers = 60%
    Road H = 30 houses, 8 customers = 27%
    Road I = 26 houses, 23 customers = 50%

So thats a total of 288 houses, 71 customers = 25% Roads G H & I are "new" as I've only covered them since Christmas. I guess that's not too bad, unfortunately I only average about 20-30 orders and most of them averaging under £5 lately. A bit down on last years stats but I've lost quite a few customers due to them being pains in the neck and constantly being unable to pay or not answering their door  One woman I tried delivering a £60 order to her for nearly 3 MONTHS before giving up:eek:

Oh well, I need to get these books sorted to go out today. I'm running 2 days late as its been one of those weeks where time has just flown by

Just lost another 5 houses on one of my new roads. :( As I was putting books out one person gave it me back and said they weren't interested, another I remembered didn't want one as they already have a rep and then the others were student lets where signs have gone up over the past couple of days :(

Now I'm going to get geeky and start compiling better records of what I've ordered and returned etc over the past year. I have an excel file as a "calling book" but its a mess after I fell behind with keeping it up to date :o

I was a rep for about 6 months before I became a sl, though I only became a sl because my OH was going to be becoming a rep anyway (so we could get more territory) so I figured I might as well give sl a try with him as my first rep.

Also as a sales leader do u haveto do ur own sales too?? and do u have certain roads to do too? yes we have to do our own sales - you don't have to do any roads, so long as you can get sufficient sales from friends/family/network. as a minimum you need £148 of sales each time - it does take into account returns though, and as you climb the "ranks", your sales need to increase to £220 each campaign. You can miss campaigns though and still earn from your team, providing you've built up some "points" (we get these for ordering more than £148), which also helps when you have returns to do. Sounds more confusing than it is - basically - we still have to do sales as a rep ourselves, as how else can we keep up to date with how to place orders/deliveries etc and teach others, if we aren't doing any of it ourselves anymore.
Thanks all, i learn so much from you guys

    hope this helps :)
