confirmation through, price is 300 + shipping (ouch!!) although i had expected that. will see what happens over the next couple of days, can always return unopened if not happy but I'm confident that this will go down as the hp man i spoke to this morning confirmed it was going to get cheaper.
Thank you! -- HP website is being a pain though can't do anything.
Did they say how much the reduced price will be? I've heard people say £46... £99... "Around £100" etc.0 -
Just picked up one I reserved Sunday night/Monday morning at comet - £115- th inking it would have gone. Must say, well happy with Comet. They could have sold it 100 times over Monday night/ Tuesday morning! Now - buyers remorse - did I really need it...0

one more stupid question due to never ever before used amazon:
the "Not in stock; order now and we'll deliver when available"
how long usually takes amazon to delivery a not in stock item?weeks ,months? is there a prefix time that they must adhere? thanx again.
That doesn't bode well, if it's the TouchPad you're looking at because there likely will be NO more stock...
They'll stock it when and if they're ready, for any item. It can take weeks to months, even if you order it you've not paid money for it yet.0 -
Thank you for your recent on line order. Unfortunately all stock of the HP Touchpad’s have now been exhausted and we will not be receiving any more from the supplier, therefore your order has been cancelled. Authorisation has been requested but no monies have transferred from you card. May we apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause. Please do not reply to this email. Any queries, please contact doncasterresource@staples.com0

They've sent out e-mails saying they are expecting more stock in the future, but it could've been a copy and paste e-mail.0 -
Here's an interesting TouchPad story.
I reserved 2 TouchPads online with Comet yesterday around noon. One was 16GB, the other 32GB. One was for me, the other for my girlfriend.
I turned up at the Dundee Comet store (Longtown Road) just after 9am this morning to be told that I couldn't get the 16GB version, but I could get the 32GB version.
The reason given was that the 16GB TouchPad was a display copy which had been reserved incorrectly by their computer system (it allegedly belonged to HP and was therefore not for sale).
Now - either there's some dodgy sales manoueverings going on, or there's something far wrong with the Comet computer system: If I order a "Click and Collect item", I expect a (brand new boxed) item to be reserved for me - as the confirmation email I received stated. And I don't expect to be given an ex-display copy - just how could that have been reserved by mistake exactly? Or has someone else just walked away with my 16GB TouchPad?
I wasn't very happy - I feel let down by Comet.
This is now a big problem for me. Do I selfishly hold on to the 32GB version or do I give it to my girlfriend as a present and do without? I think I know what to do...
I'm hoping a Comet representative reading this forum will come to my aid (all I want is the £89 TouchPad I ordered) - I'm sure the thousands of MoneySavingExpert readers will be interested in finding out just how good or bad the Comet sales teams really are. And hopefully Comet can help to restore some confidence in their "Click and Collect" system - otherwise I won't ever be using it (or Comet) ever again.
If a Comet rep could contact me by email at: martin at fourfiveone dot info I would be very grateful. And I will post the outcome in this forum for the thousands of MoneySavingExpert readers to see.
I posted this earlier in the thread, but it could have possibly been snatched up by the staff.
I went into my local comet yesterday (they were all hovering excitedly over a computer.) When they eventually noticed me i was told that there was none in stock. Then the sales assistant admitted that there were 2 in stock, but the staff will get their hands on them first. Well, at least he was honest...0 -

Just had the rejection email from Staples. I'd previously spoken to them and they'd told me that they were hoping to fulfil all orders placed before 11AM. I can't say to be sure, but I'm pretty certain that my order went through prior to 10AM.
Best of luck to you all.

I placed an order with Amazon last night. Not had a confirmation of despatch but, a confirmation of order. I also took the express delivery option assuming that more money spent = a greater chance of getting one.
What you all need to remember is that while these are being sold at 80 and 155 quid, the resale value will be only slightly more. So if you don't grab one now, you will later on ebay etc. So all is not lost.0 -
So, I've just ordered a 32Gb at full price of the Argos website for delivery on 2nd September via Credit Card as a pressie for my wife. There is no T on the site next to this nor the 16Gb item, and I have taken a screen print of this.
DSR say that I can return it for any reason. If the price doesn't drop in the next 2 days I'll just cancel so no porblem as far as I can see.
Am I right?0
