I've not been caught by Tesco here, but I do know from personal dealings with Tesco that they value their reputation extraordinarily highly, and if you can succeed in flagging this up at a high enough level, they will back down - I can guarantee that.
Contact details of Tesco higher-ups are available here:

I think it may be a sensible solution to set-up a separate thread dealing with the Tesco problems arising as a result of them not honouring the price reduction.
I posted last night on the Tesco Facebook page. You will find my post and their response to this a this a few pages down in this thread... and some options available to you.
I think a separate thread would better direct people who are in a similar situation and allow for this thread to be kept for informing those still searching for a tablet where they can get it from.0 -
Not to be overly controversial. But there is not really a 'Tesco problem' is there.
People chose to purchase at the price, which was clear to them when they proceeded though to the checkout and authorised the payment. Tesco have no requirement to lower the price or refund differences for those who jumped the gun in the hope the would be reimbursed.
Personally, I hope Tesco don't refund the difference, as this is no different to those that purchased and resold on ebay, which people seem to also be against.
What a lot of people don't often recognise is that in this retail world, life is all about supply and demand, and if demand is higher than supply, then people/organisations can exploit the fact people want to purchase said item.
I agree it is frustrating when the item is out of stock, but those that purchased in the 'hope' they would be reimbursed, should recognise that they have no right to a refund.0 -
Any one know where to get a HP Pre3 Smartphone please?0

I think what people are saying about Tesco is they are apparently failing to follow their own protocol RE price matching / competition in the marketplace. Argos' stock ALL reserved at full price on Monday (I'm sure many of us found that out on our own). The point being all the customers who have had a tablet from Argos via an early-week reservation have done EXACTLY the same thing as those who are waiting on a Tesco decision. The only difference is Argos took the plunge straight away and okay'd the refunds and reductions.
Tesco risk looking like greedy opportunists if they don't follow the whims of the marketplace. Ironically, most of the people who brought at full Tesco price can also be seen as greedy, but that is just the way it goes. No use crying into our pillows about the degradation of social morals now. I (and many others) had a choice to strike when the iron was hot and get our names in the hat for one of these tablets. Unfortunately we weren't as lucky as the Argos customers.
We shall wait and see.0 -
Quick update on Tesco's FB discussion page:
Tesco:
We are all very sorry for the delay, we will get in touch regarding this soon. Thanks again for your patience. Please be assured you are all valued customers and we do appreciate the feedback.

You'll find that they will reimburse.
I think you're overlooking the fact that, whatever the rights and wrongs, legal and moral, Tesco are running a business. Customer goodwill is crucial to its success, and Tesco guard that very carefully.
Once this gets high enough, someone will be bright enough to realise that the cost of reimbursements is far outweighed by the loss of goodwill. And that's quite apart from the cost of dealing with all the returns, and then being unable to sell them at the old price.
It's a no-brainer, really - the only surprise is that it's taking them this long to reach what's an inevitable conclusion.0 -

Tesco do not price match, they price check.
A subtle difference admittedly, but still a difference.craigsmith86 wrote: »

Actually greedy opportunists is a tag that can more easily applied to those seeking to get a part refund off Tesco than Tesco itself.
The actions of Argos, while laudable, have absolutely no bearing on the actions of Tesco in this matter.
Yes, they may fold and offer discounts for goodwill reasons, but if you don't want to buy an item at the price on the invoice then don't buy it.0 -
I really can't see why Tesco are dragging their feet over that one - it just makes them look bad (not that I particularly like them in the first place!) especially given that from what I've read, HP has put money aside to compensate the retailers. Good luck to those of you waiting on Tesco to see the lightNow free from the incompetence of vodafail0

I have placed an order for touchpad with Argos and will be delivered on 2 September.
I only receive a acknowledge email of my order. Is everyone the same?
"Thanks for shopping at Argos.co.uk on Tuesday 23 August 2011. We've sent you this email as an acknowledgement of your order, which we'll now check. "
No further confirmation email or receive any phone call from argos re price reduction.
Anyone in the same boat?0
