i wasn't going to write today thinking along the lines of if you havn't got anything good to say better not to say anything at all.but there again a diary is supposed to be an outlet and maybe i'll feel better to write it down.
sometimes things seem to all happen at once.at work i've lost 3 1/2 hours work.it doesn't sound like much but it really makes a difference at the end of the month when it happens regularly.the agency phoned me to do a night shift last night.i was out walking the dog when she phoned.it was to start two hours later.i said no,but regreted it afterwards.i couldn't phone her back from my mobile so as soon as i got home i phoned her back.she had covered the work.i told her if any shifts came up tonight i would do them but i'm sure i won't now be top of her list of people to phone.so i now feel really guilty about turning down work.then a shift that i had booked with the agency for sunday got cancelled.so now i feel even more guilty.
now i'm just feeling sorry for myself:embarasse my neighbours have just had a new sofa delivered.they carried it past my window as if they were flaunting their wealth.ok maybe i'm getting carried away now but you know where i'm coming from.
i'm of to try and do something constructive with my day.
    will report back later.:)

  • i've been pretty much off the rails most of this week.been buying sweets while i'm at work and generally just wasting money the way i used to.have had no nsd's and havn't even been on the site for afew days.
have not had much work this week so thats partly to blame.i know it should work the other way,the less i earn the less i should spend but it doesn't seem to work like that.also i've had problems with an item i've sold on ebay.i sold a brand new pair of walking trousers but the buyer is saying they are worn and damaged and not as described, they opened a case with ebay.she said she would settle for a 50% refund but there's no way i'm doing that.i've told them they can return the trousers and i'll refund the price they paid and postage but ther's no way i'm paying the postage to return them.the whole thing is really anoying and a bit upsetting,i know they will leave bad feedback.
i've updated my signature for the month.i can't seem to do it properly.how hard can it be to draw lines through numbers.how come everyone else just knows how to do these things.for the 4th month running the total has gone up.by £78 this month.all because of the overdraft.i've worked out that if i don't spend anything else out of my bank account i will just stay under my overdraft limit and therefor out of charges.but as it's only the 13th it's highly unlikely.

  • at last i'm back.
my computer has been off line for 4 days now.i've missed it much more than i probably should have.problems were all due to changing my provider.they are sorted now though so i'm just going to forget all about them.
spending hasn't been going to well.the upside though is that i've been doing some work for the agency and i've had some nice sales on ebay.
will update everything tomorrow.it's nice to be back though.
    have a good tuesday everyone.:)

  • i havn't posted on here for a while and it's amazing how quickly the feeling of being out of control returns to you.i've not filled in my spending diary, not made a note of any nsd.i've returned to bad habits of wasting money on silly little things.
i've come back to the site because i know it's the only way to get back in control.i was feeling down because of the things i've got going on and then i come here and read some of the stories of the problems people are having and it puts things into perspective.
so i'm going to try and stop moaning and get on with things.
so an update of where i am now.
i'm still struggling with my overdraft,it's my biggest problem and the reason why despite my debts coming down month by month my signature keeps going up.i got paid today and i am already starting the month £900 overdrawn.i have some money to come in on saturday from the agency but i need alot more to stay under the charges danger zone.in order to save myself paying charges this month i spent a bit on my credit card which i havn't done for months.
work is a bit of a problem at the moment.my main job is not giving me enough work.i have to give them 25 hours availability but they are under no obligation to give my 25 hours of work.this is time that i can't tell the agency i'm available so i end up not working at all.the easiest thing to do would be to leave my main job but i'm afraid to do this.they pay sick pay and holiday pay and if i worked for the agency only i would have none of this.it's something i would like to sit down and hear what other people think about it,but i know that i'm the only one who can decide.
being more positive,my advert for a carer/cleaner has come out in a local free magazine.i'm pleased with the advert it's just about the word search so i figure lots of people will see it.i hope it gets some response although i havn't decided how much i will charge yet if someone phones.also i've had quite a good run with my ebay stuff at the moment.i've got about £80 in my paypal account.£45 of that is earmarked for my updated crb,not sure about the rest.
phew that was a bit of a novel, suppose thats what happens when you stay away to long.it's good to be back.

    Hi there Greenanne

It's good to see you back. I guess we all fall off the wagon from time to time. It's the people who keep getting back on that are successful in the end. And you're doing that!

About the agency work...can you not sign up for an agency as well as continuing to do your main job? I've done this once or twice in my life. You get clobbered for tax from the second job but even so, it's worth it for extra income.

Isn't it ironic that the less work you're doing, the more time you have to spend cash you don't have? I totally get that, and it works the other way round too. I'm working more than I have done for years and have no time to shop for a winter coat. :)

See you around Greenanne. Keep going, you can and will beat this.
If you know you have enough, you're rich. ;)
  • evening everyone.
thankyou for your words of encoragement ani*fan they mean alot.
although i havn't been good at keeping my diary up to date i have been around.i'm still trying to get some nsd's in when i can and i've joined the sealed pot challenge.
my main problem at the moment is that i've slipped back into the bank charges zone on my overdraft.once you get there it feels like there's no way out.it doesn't matter how much extra money you make because they keep on taking more and more off you.
i do already do the agency work as well as my normal job and your right they do really clober you for tax.it is a good way of earning extra money though.i already have 1 nightshift lined up for next week.if i can get afew more that would be really helpful.
i had to update my signature as i do this on the 12th of each month.it doesn't make for good reading as i've had to use my credit card afew times.
i'm off to checkout the boards and forums now for a while as i do find them inspiring.
    have a good friday everyone.:)

  • a bit of a mixed day today,
worked all day then had to go to the garage to have a new tyre fitted.the one i had was achually bald in places and i knew it had been like it for a while.had to put it on the credit card but at least it;s done, especially with the weather getting wet.
when i checked my emails there was one from the parking people.i got a parking ticket while i was working last week and i had written to contest it.they were having none of it though.so that will cost me £35 which i can well do without.probabley if i get any money for xmas[my dad usually gives me £25] that will go towards paying that.the only good thing is because i contested it i have a bit of extra time to pay it.
i also got my work rota for xmas today and everything i said i would work they havn't given me and everything i said i didn't want to do i'm down to work:mad:
i'm going away tomorrow just for the nite with my sister.it's our aunts 80th and it's a bit of a family get together.half of me is secretly hoping the weather will be really bad and we can't go.it's already cost me lots of money that i can't afford.it's really hard to get out of things though.i will try harder but i don't want my sister to know my money problems.
anyway, thats my moan for the day.have a good weekend everyone.

:sad:ok,so where did i get to.
well when i got into the car on saturday morning i reolised that the garage had changed the wrong tyre.this means that i achually had two tyres that were bad enough that they needed to be changed.also as i seem to change tyres quite often the tracking must be out.the long and short of this is that in the last 4 days the car has cost me £130.it's all had to go on the credit card.
had a lovely weekend with my family and then went for a meal with some friends on sunday.i took £60 out the hole in the wall and was surprised to get that.the meal was paid for with the money my dad gave me for xmas.
i got my third letter this month from the bank saying i had been charged because i'm over my agreed overdraft limit.they are up to £66 so far and that will only go up.this is all feeling so horribly familiar.
then a shift that i had booked in with the agency to work tomorrow night has been cancelled.and now just to top it all off i was taking some pictures to list some stuff on ebay and i dropped my camera, and now it's not working.
so,not having a good week so far, in fact i could cry.i hope everyone else is doing better.

You have had a time of it recently. I know its not always easy but keep going, you will get there. I believe you work in the care sector, have you thought about doing some work assisting people in their own homes?

    Take care
