Evening Greenanne
You seem so much more positive even if things have gone the other way for you at the moment. Hope the Barclays thing works in your favour and you get some good news.
How did your extra shifts go?
Glad to see you posting and although I don't say too much I am always reading.
Take care

hi there 666paw,
thanks for your words of encouragement, they really do help.
i am feeling more optimistic at the moment.although there is lots of money going out i can also see money coming in.
work is very busy.the place where i am working for the agency has alot of people off sick at the moment so they are using alot of agency carers.i've just recieved one payslip from them so fingers crossed i may stay out of bank charges this month, although it's early days yet.i'll be back later.:)there is no wealth but lifesealed pot challenge#240

ok so i spoke to soon.
my first letter for bank charges popped through the letter box this morning.thats another £22 to barclays.
i'm doing quite well so far this month for nsd,up to 6 already.
i have joined the sealed pot challenge but as i never have any cash and am not spending anything i'm not doing so well with that.
the next thing i want to look into is the things i can claim tax allowance for.i have to pay out for all my training for the agency and it has to be updated yearly.so i'm going to look through all the information on here tomorrow.there is no wealth but lifesealed pot challenge#240

just worked till one today which was nice.
todays post brought all my last six years transactions from barclays.all 160 pages with writting so small i has to read them with my magnifier.
the total amount of bank charges i've paid [not including interest] is a massive £1876:eek::eek:
looking back through all the transactions shows how much my spending has changed.i used to spend money even when i was really overdrawn because i never reolised how much it was costing me.i never used to look at statements and looking back at them today there were things that i havn't a clue what they were.at least i can say i now know where every penny is going to go that comes out of my account.
tomorrow i will sit and put my letter together to try and claim some of this back.even if i end up with nothing the exercise has already been an eye opener.:)there is no wealth but lifesealed pot challenge#240

have been working all day today so not much time for anything else.
have had a nsd which makes 5 in a row which was the target i had set.i came very close to just buying junk food this evening,it was only knowing that it would spoil my 5 nsd in a row that stopped me,so the challenges do work.
i have lots of work on every day this week.i'm annoyed at myself for not being more organised with meals.i know i am going to end up eating lots of toast or porridge instead of proper meals.
i sat down and wrote my letter to reclaim my bank charges this afternoon.i've used the template on the site but i've never really used windows before and i can't work out how to do afew things.i have managed to save it though so i'll try and sort it tomorrow.:)there is no wealth but lifesealed pot challenge#240

well,i've just had a couple of days that didn't go quite as planned.
on monday i dashed home from one job to change for another and as soon as i walked out the door i reolised i'd locked myself out.so had everyone looking for my spare keys, even the dog walker[used to walk the dog not any more].luckly everyone came up trumps.
then yeaserday evening i started getting really bad stomach cramps, felt terrible so dodn't go to work today.i only had afew hours work but just couldn't face it.i've slept most of the day so should be ok for the morning.
i've been printing copies of the bank charges i want to send to barclays but it's taking ages.i'll try and get it all ready for posting tomorrow.
i'm of for an early night now.:)there is no wealth but lifesealed pot challenge#240

i've afew days to catch up on now.
felt better on wednesday so did a morning shift at the hospital.
thursday was back to my other job, just half day though.i also got a call from someone who had seen my ad.this was the first call i'd had.i gave him some information and he said he would talk to his family and get back to me.i havn't heard anything yet.meanwhile i've taken on a small job doing someone's housework and ironing.4 hours a week for £10 an hour.it will give me a bit of cash to get petrol or shopping, just to try not to take money out of the bank.
i'll get paid again tomorrow for the work i've been doing with the agency.i've been earning some good money but it's not even making a dent in the overdraft.i got another letter this morning saying i've been charged another £22 charges.
on a brighter note at last i've got my bank charges claim together.i typed the letter up using the template then my printer wouldn't print it properly so i've had to send a hand written letter.it doesn't look as efficient or as official but it will have to do.just have to keep my fingers crossed now.
i've got work on for the agency all weekend but not tomorrow morning so the plan is to have a lazy morning in bed reading my book and eating toast.can't wait.i'm easily pleased.
have a good weekend everyone.:)there is no wealth but lifesealed pot challenge#240

Hi there greenanne
Oh my goodness your bank charges total is eye-watering. But the good news is that you can claim it back! Even if they only give you half, what an enormous help that would be. I hope you also asked for the interest. It can't hurt.
About your bank account...I wonder if it might help to open another account to get your wages paid into? One without an overdraft, where you know the bank will not try to steal your money and you can therefore budget more easily? I know its always a shocker when they suddenly grab £25 or £30 you'd forgotten they were going to take. Your overdraft can then be treated as a debt and you don't have to look at it every time you go to a cash machine. There's also a nice feeling of being out of that cycle of charges leaving you with not enough to live on so then more charges. You could offer them £10 a month (or whatever) to pay it off, or do it quicker if you can. Anyway, it was just a thought.
Will pm you with credit card info. Sorry to take so long.
Best of luck.

so ive just updated my signature.well as best as i can for today.it takes me ages to figure out how to do it.am i the only person on this site who has a problem with this?,i've achually got the word 'strike' on it and do you think i can get rid if it,can i b*gger.
anyway, thats a distraction from the fact that dispite anything i'm doing my debt is still going up instead of down.i'm not freeking out about it because at least i don't have the guilt of knowing that it's because i've been spending lots of money.i just have to get the overdraft and the cc sorted to be able to get back to a place where i can start to make a difference.there is no wealth but lifesealed pot challenge#240
