Boring? Are you kidding? Your debt has gone down by £278...woo hoo!!! :j:T:rotfl:That's amazing news!

And £4.50 for a kettle, brilliant.

It's all going in the right direction now. Excellent!

  • well i just had to write to say what has happened here today.barclays have written back about my claim for bank charges.i put in a claim for £1876 and they have offered a 'goodwill gesture' of £380.my first thought was no way.but now i'm thinking more along the lines of it's money i wouldn't of had otherwise.
i'll mull it over and come back later when i've decided.

    Evening greenanne

Well done on the new account and especially on getting your debt down by so much, your doing really well. Glad to see that you are treating yourself to a little break especially with all the extra work you have been doing recently, you put me to shame.

Regarding the blackberry contract, I'm not too sure on these things. I do have a blackberry but it is about 4 years old and was given to me by my dad as he couldn't get on with it. I only use it to phone or text and am on payg. If you are paying 15-20 a month on your mobile then it may be worth it for you. Just double check how many minutes you get and how many you currently use.

Keep on with the debt busting, you are getting there.

    Take care

  • thanks for the advice 666paw,
i am still thinking about the possibility of getting a phone contract but, like you i would probable only phone and text so don't really need a blackberry.
i have deciced to accept the banks offer.obviously i would have liked more but at the same time i was brasing myself for them saying they wouldn't give me anything.so £384 is much better than nothing.
i've just had a couple of lovely days of work.it's the first time i've been able to get out in the garden.i've emptied the compost bin and emptied pots and set some seeds in the kitchen.a good few days work.:)

  • well i havn't updated my diary for a while so i thought i'd better get writting before i forget what i've been doing.
i've sent the letter off accepting the offer from the bank and my plan is to put a big chunk of it into my new bank account.speaking of which i am still not using it yet.i know i should have changed everything over but i just feel this reluctance to do it.i've been with the same bank for 28 years and it's hard moving away from something i know, even though it's costing me money.when i was going through the 6 years worth of statements i was seeing the £16 charge everymonth for my account and it's only just occured to me that it's because i've had an 'additions account'.i feel daft now for not reolising sooner that i've paid all this money for years.the only thing i use on it is breakdown cover and i can get that for much less.additions is now cancelled:o
i've had no agency work so far this week, fingers crossed for saturday.i've almost finished all my online training updates for another year.
    thats all for now.night all.:)

    Hi greenanne
Isn't it odd how we feel a loyalty to our bank when really, they do not have our best interests at heart at all and need to make money from us any way they can? I get offered an 'extras' account almost every time I go into my bank and it drives me mad. There is absolutely no way I want to pay for any bank account.
Best of luck with the switch. You can do it. How shocking that they have all the information about your financial difficulties but never reminded you about the £16 you paid monthly that could have been cancelled?

i thought it was about time i showed my face to report on what i've been up to.
i must admit my extra good no spending has slipped a bit and i've spent money on things like food while at work just through not being organised so i must try much harder at this.
the bank paid out the money we agreed to and i drew £200 out and put it straight into my new bank account.i also paid for my car tax and i paid a bill that was overdue.the down side of accepting this money is that my 'personal reserve'has been taken away from my overdraft.i've just been paid and i've worked out that with the one agency shift i've done this week i should be ok for all my direct debits up untill the 10th of the month, which is nearly all of them.
the other thing is that it's just dawned on me that it's only a week today that i'm going to portugal on my friends 'hen holiday' for 5 days and i don't have any money to spare.everything for the holiday is paid for but i need money for the lady who looks after my dog and i have to have something to take with me,so this is a worry now.tomorrow i'm going to have to start going through my clothes to see what fits and what doesn't.:)

    Hi Greenanne

I hope you're having a wonderful holiday and forgetting all about your money worries for a while. You deserve it.

Don't forget to tell us all about it when you come back.

well i'm back from my 'hen holiday'.i had a great time.the weather was fantastic and i'm so glad that i decided to go in the end.even though i couldn't really afford it.
i achally had to take some money out of my new account to take away with me but i took the least i thought i could get away with.i was really good with the money while away.i brought nothing back with me and wasted nothing.the problem was i lost 55euros.we all had to give my friend 30euros as a deposit against breakages to be returned at the end of the holiday.instead of my buying this extra money my sister gave me 55euros she had at home.i tucked them away in a document wallet i took.as soon as i got to the villa i went to get them and they were missing.i felt sick,i could have cried.but what could i do.so i have managed to bring back 40euros of my spending money,i have to put £15 to this to make it back up to what i owe her.i know that if i explained she would say don't worry but i dont want to do that..
i'm of to get some jobs done now.i'll be back later.:)
