I wouldn't expect my buyers to make a claim with RM if an item went missing. I have had two INR claims in the past 4 weeks, both standard delivery. The buyers contacted me after 1 week, I asked if they would kindly wait a few more days to see if the item arrives as RM do not class as item as undelivered until 15 working days have past. The items have not arrived so I have refunded and I sent the claim in to RM.

My buyers have no reason not to trust me if they look through my feedback before bidding/buying. If they did not trust me then they would choose not to bid.

If you think its wrong to add 'I keep all receipts as proof of posting' in my listings or attracting wrong buyers (even though I have only had two INR claims in 7 year) then thats your problem. I can't see anything wrong with it. When the two buyers sent a message to say they have not received their item, I emailed them a copy of the postal receipts to assure them the item/s were posted, then refunded their payment.

I have seen it on many listings before I added it to my own and I didn't automatically think the seller would make me claim if the item got lost in delivery.

    Actually you stated earlier

which implies you have lost recorded items but not as many as non recorded items- which again implies more than two losses. Otherwise how would you base your assumption that you lose more non recorded than recorded items?

I will repeat myself again. Since selling on eBay I have only had two INR claims which were both in the past 4 weeks.

I do buy on ebay and have had a few items not arrive. Every recorded delivery item I have sent or received has been delivered but not all standard 1st or 2nd class which is why I said recorded delivery rarely goes missing in delivery.

How can it be my problem if I don't have a problem with myself or sellers adding in their listing that they keep all receipts as proof of posting.

You are still not understanding what recorded mail actually is. It is standard mail- it is not safer than any other standard mail carried by Royal Mail. The only point in using it is if you fear your buyers might make a false claim for item not received.

However since it rarely gets a sig on delivery anyway, I haven't signed for a recorded item now for months and months, it is useless even for that purpose.

As a seller though I urge all my competitors to use recorded, as it greatly assists me in selling my own goods as compared to other sellers I look better value for money.

Yes I do know that thanks, I'm not stupid.

I have had serveral items go missing using non-recorded and only one using recorded. Maybe my local sorting office likes to take things/lose things I don't know. But for whatever reason I have less problems using recorded than non-recorded.

its your problem as it obviously affects the way your listings are viewed
this can affect the type of buyers you get and the number/level of bids

I've yet to meet anyone from eBay who's had a loss claim, paid the refund and had the item returned by the PO

I have - the parcel got returned to me about 2 weeks after the refund. It's happened twice I think. Once the buyer repaid, the other time they didn't want to bother.

I've had a 'lost' parcel back once, and only once. Mine was from the Christmas debacle, refunded after 10 days and then about 7 weeks later item came back as not called for. I emailed the buyer to see if they still wanted it but never had a response.

In fact you have just reminded me that I still have it wrapped in my store room and can re list it now.

Maybe you should pay more attention of who wrote what when replying as it is me that has had two INR claims in 7 years as a seller.
