eBay Sellers - delivery options

As i've said to you before you need to have a good look at your listings. There is a reason why this is happening.
Nothing wrong with my listings, I use the same standard format whatever the item. As I've previously said it does seem to be happening more and more on eBay to everybody lately and there's nothing a seller can do besides refund and put in a claim.
And whilst 'things' do get lost in the post it's always struck me as odd its a small jiffy style envelope send 1st class rather than cheque letters! I've yet to meet anyone from eBay who's had a loss claim, paid the refund and had the item returned by the PO - Guess they must vanish into thin air/be abducted by little green men or be stolen and in peoples house - Please feel free to circle your choice!
TBH I'm more than a little irked that you feel my listings are in someway wrong and it's therefore my fault that items have been claimed as missing0 -
OP In your original post you say 'Recorded Delivery' well that isn't tracked and you will not win a case in Ebay / PayPal for it's use. As it's name suggests it's just a record of delivery, what happens between you posting and the item arriving at the buyer isn't tracked.
It also doesn't offer the sender any higher compensation than sending at the standard rate. It's not really suitable for Ebay sellers at all as it means the buyer needs to be at home to sign for the item when it is delivered and that is an inconvenience for a lot of people who work all day.0 -
If the recorded delivery info online says it has been delivered then I can see no reason why you would not win a ebay/paypal case?0

If the Recorded Delivery shows that the item has been delivered on the Royal Mail website then eBay and Paypal would accept that as proof of delivery. If the item shows that it has been posted but not delivered then the seller would not win the case.
Recorded Delivery insures items up to £46.00 so it is worth paying the extra 77p for this delivery service than send by standard delivery and the buyer claiming the item has been lost in post then leaving negative feedback.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -

But for trackable online couriers or special delivery, the buyer would also need to be at home to sign for the item when it was delivered...0 -

Recorded Delivery is accepted by ebay and paypal as proof of delivery if the RM website shows the item has been delivered.
I don't get how this delivery service can be an incovenience for a lot of people who work all day. What about items that don't fit through a standard size letter box? Not all post men/women will leave the parcel with a neighbour (whatever the delivery service) so either way the buyer will have to collect from their local post office or sorting office if they miss delivery.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
Like already said damned if you do damned if you don't. That being said if you are selling as a business then you should have a profit margin on the sale price so you should be able to lose a couple without it being a major issue if its a low value item as in reality the number of INR's should be very low 1-3%. If your getting more than that I would look at what its in your listing as you maybe attracting the chancers, or even in your feedback. I.e if you have several people who left a positive along the lines of refund issued straight away then others may see that as a sign for a freebie.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

In the 7 years I have been using eBay I can't ever remember a buyer saying they have not received their item and I sell quite a lot. I am not a business seller but being a shopoholic I tend to buy a lot of clothes, shoes and bags etc and if they are still sitting in my wardrobe unworn after a month or two then I will put them on ebay. I post the majority of items recorded delivery to avoid the dishonest ebayers who put in a false INR claim and get a free item as ebay or paypal will not accept a standard postal receipt as proof of posting.
Its only the past two weeks I have had two buyers claiming they have not received their item. I emailed proof of posting to them just to prove to them the item was posted. I have a very funny feeling one of the buyers is trying to get a free item as she was being a bit funny after purchasing the item, saying she didnt really want it unless I had another item to include and combine postage. She knew I never had the other item as it was sold to another buyer the previous week, before she even bidded on the item she won.A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -

I also don't buy too many things that are sent tracked - this is by accident rather than design.

To be honest I've had about five incidents of INR in the last thirteen months; two where the sellers forgot to post the item for a week (!), one where a replacement was sent, one where no item was received for three weeks and the seller was made to refund via a dispute and one where I was refunded voluntarily after two weeks. After eight hassle-free years, it is either RM getting worse or sellers suddenly becoming less reliable. I hope it's the former.
The last one does sound like a scam but I hope you will refund the first without too much quibble because you really can't prove anything as to whether they received the item and since you have POP you can claim from RM."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4

And it's an extra 77p on top of normal costs, just because you don't trust a minority of buyers - and yet you still have two INRs.
I don't get sellers who don't get the amount of trust involved in selling on eBay and if you don't trust your buyers, you might as well give up now, as it isn't going to get any better."Well, it's election year, Bill, we'd rather people didn't exercise common sense..." - Jed Bartlet, The West Wing, season 4
