Furthermore if the loan was for the SOLE benefit of the borrower (eg Golf Club Membership fees) this will lead to more frequent breaches of the Data Protection Act and fewer future borrowing opportunities than a mutually beneficial loan.

(A loan is deemed to be mutually beneficial if WFI receives some consideration or collateral in the allocation of said loan. Such as purchase of household decorating items, for example paint and wallpaper. Moreover if the borrower applies these himself, and makes a good job of it future loan negotiation will be subject to an accelerated processing rate and a takeaway of choice or other incentive. See posts 48 and 49 for further clarification).

  • Gosh do you two like playing games!

You're either both heavily into fooling around or if it's serious, I'd get out quick!

You may end up finding yourself tied up, to the bed ends - unless you're into that sort of thing of course and that's what you're aiming for?!!

HFI on the other hand, try and place their decimal point where they wish, but other t+c's don't allow it.....
  • Hi telboyo,

Sorry to hear about the issues you're having with your finance company. Don't worry, we can help.

Despite us females always being right, I’ve tried to remain impartial and professional.

As we advise our clients, if they're in a ‘problem debt’ scenario they might find that the creditor sells the debt on to an external debt collection agency. We've heard from many people to watch out for the well-known company 'In-Laws Debt Collectors'. Their tactics can be brutal, long-lasting and very stressful for the debtor.

Remember to only converse in writing (for example, by sending a letter by recorded delivery, or perhaps sticking a post-it note on the fridge door) and don't agree or sign anything, or she may gain a possession order on your assets (furniture, electrical goods, or, we've heard in extreme situations, the remote control for a whole evening).

We'd recommend that you consider a DMP (Debt to Married Partner) to help you pay off your dues at a schedule that's right for you, even if it's a £1 per month token payment. Your creditor will probably not agree to this, but as long as you stay strong and don't buckle under pressure from the constant threats, you'll be OK. Just remember to send a pound coin in the post once a month with a note explaining the situation - after a while they'll realise and freeze interest.

If you need to speak to someone in confidence, contact us. We can help. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

    Good luck!
