Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 19th August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
I hope I haven't duplicated the thread this morning
I hope you had a good night Molly & any others not sleeping well.
My friend is exchanging contracts on her dec'd Mum's flat this afternoon so we are going over to give it a final dust & vacuum this morning.
Hubby has staggered into work this morning having twisted his back last night, TFI Friday, he can rest it over the weekend & if it doesn't get better he'll have to visit the chiropracter (sp).
I made an apple cake yesterday morning as I had a friend coming over for coffee & it's all gone as I had a stream of unexpected guests as well as the expected one.
Tea tonight is either HM chinese or HM Fish & chips, I haven't decided which yet.
Have a good day everone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning Hester and all who follow x
I was awake earlier in the night and went back to bed around 2ish. Still I got enough sleep and it was a very stressful day yesterday.

After the rain it it such a lovely morning but very autumnal. Im sat with my hottie and the dogs again!

I need to do some catching up today as I did absolutely next to nothing yesterday. Will be back later xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning all,

Looks like a nice day here, I did a big wash last night and put it on the airer, I will transfer it to the line before work, I also need to cook the three gammon joints my sister bought round yesterday, she is having a party saturday and has asked me to cook the meat for her (she is veggie), so I will get what I can in the sc before work.

Last day at work today for 2 weeks :j, OH and I will rip the bathroom out starting monday, so looking forward to that :D

Dinner tonight is meatballs, with pasta, although I am now fancying a chinese :D.

Meant to say yesterday Tappers, so glad your results were clear :T

House is fairly tidy, had a good clean up yesterday, so will just do the basics today.

    Have good days all xx

    Morning everyone

Bright and sunny but a bit chilly here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Washing out on the line. Now in getting ready for holiday mode. Had a reasonably productive day yesterday, doing housework and did all the ironing (just have few more bits to do once they are dry items we want to take with us). Need to pack and take the clothes to the caravan, will also take the non perishable food bits and put in the cupboards.

Shortly I will be going to the bank, then food shopping, baking some treats, visiting grandparents, not going to stress about the list otherwise feel it overwhelms me. Will just get stuck in and do the jobs and mark them off the list, will just plod on til they are all done. Dinner last night was toad in the hole, potatoes, veg and gravy, victoria sponge for dessert. Tonight will be something quick and easy - poss chicken kievs and chips so I can maximise the time I have. Managed also to use up most of the fresh food from the fridge so haven't thrown anything away. Need to post ebay item too.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

    CAMELOT Amelie is beautiful, lovely
TAPLADY glad to hear your results
BRAMBLE well done on the not drinking I'm trying to do the same myself at the mo.

Lovely day here but cold. Both cats are keeping me warm on the sofa. Off to Canterbury again today to register with another agency, they cover more nursing homes in my area which is good as I don't want to give up working with older adults altogether. Have to take DS with me but for a 10 year old he's very sensible in the required circumstances!

Tea tonight is spag bol, will bung the sauce in the SC in a mo. It's been an exhausting week not much energy to do much else at the mo.

Big hugs to all who need one today. Have a good day all.

    Morning everyone,

Taplady so glad that the results are clear.

Sistercas good news about your OH's results too

Molly sorry your DD didn't get her results but her plan B sounds good.

    Lou hugs

Well done to everyone with good A level results. My pupils did really well I am so proud of all of them.:D

Today I need to get food and clothes sorted as we are off really early in the morning to go walking along Offa's Dyke for the weekend. The teenagers are really moaning about both the getting up early and the walking but I am sure that they will enjoy it when we get there.

It feels and smells really autumnal here today but at least the sun is out. I actually really like Autumn, I think it may be my favourite season.

    Tea tonight is HM pizza.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Good Morning all,

    Camelot, what a beautiful baby.
Butterfly Brain what is Chicken Crumble sounds good

I am looking after DGS today as mum is at work. DD woke me up at 6.30 to say he was still asleep as she was leaving but he will be up any time, he has just woken up:j
Anyway so far we have had weetabix and half a crumpet and strawberries for breakfast. After his bath we will have a walk to the post office and then go and pick blackberries and say hello to the horses. I have promised to make pies later so that should be fun with a 2yr old rolling the pastry.
Need to pop to Ikea for a hanging rail ready for DS1 coming back on Monday.
Tea tonight will be cod in hm crumbs and sweet potato chips.

Off to persuade Oscar to have some magic smoke (his puffer)

    Bye for now J x

  • Morning all. Hope you don't mind me joining in! Trying really hard to be more OS - need to save some pennies! The other night I sorted out my storecupboard and freezer and was amazed that I had loads of stuff I'd forgotten was in there, so the lat 2 days we've had steamed syrup pud for tea! Mmmm! Also thinking about making some bread as I have some yeast in there.

Love reading all your daily posts! You are inspirational.
