  • I have had some great bargains from TK Maxx recently. I have to have fairly smart clothes for work and recently have bought - Calvin Klein trousers for £25 (RRP £159) in a lovely fine wool flannel, a John Smedley merino wool jumper for £12 (from £79). You have to be prepared to rummage though! There is a branch of TK Maxx on a retail park on my way back from work which is open till 8 pm, so i think i will look in there every few weeks.

I'm still an old goth but not as way out as I used to be. I'm 34 so I'm too old to be alternative but too alternative to be old. I get most of my clothes from 2nd hand shops or sometimes have a shopping spree in Camden or buy something from ebay or another website.

I feel like that too, im too old to be avril lavigne but not ready to "conform" to fashion. heh

charity shops here too. my personal style is jeans with a dress and cardi over the top - and i've been wearing this combo waaaaaay before trinny and susanna made it fashionable. I don't really do shoes and own a pair of doctor martins and ..... er that's it apart from some posh boots that i bought for a party 2 years ago and might wear again one day. i have to wear a suit for work so i bought a jacket and 2 pairs of trousers from asda although i have previously had nice suits form charity shops.
10yo dd gets 20quid month budget for new clothes to supplement boot sale bargains but she has to go shopping with her big sister as she can't bear the constant cries of "HOW MUCH! for THAT?" bro'sgf has a daughter a year older and a bit taller than mine and a few months ago asked tentatively if i would mind some castoffs so we get a big black bag about every couple of months or so. This lady is a real trendsetter and buys her daughter a lot of clothes all from Next, Monsoon and Gap so its very much appreciated :)

Stef I can remember we used to get a friend's hand me downs and I used to love it! Strange thing is that her mother used to cut off all the button and so my mum had to replace them. I have not thought of that since that time so thanks for the reminder. Good to know my brain has not completely siezed up!

    Hiya all

As a member of the big chested brigade, I spend a fair bit on good fiting bras too. Usually M&S. I find that the fit on asdas/tescos isnt as good. I also will not skimp on cheap shoes.

Other than that, clothes come from Asda, primark. newlook, anywhere thats cheap really. and always bought in the sale dont hink ive ever bought anything full price other than bras n shoes!

The one thing I won't skimp on is bras as its false economy...there is no substitute for an M&S bra and the knickers last for YEARS too. I learned a long time ago that a cheapie Primark bra goes out of shape REALLY quickly.

I have to agree with you, I get all my undies from M&S as their quality is second to none.I like their jeans too as they do ones that sit on the waste and do not show off half your bum when you bend over!;) :D

I do shop in charity shops too but try to stick to good makes such as Next or M&S as they tend to wear well over time!

As for shoes its Brantano usually for me as I need comfort and tend to but hush puppies or Clarkes

i struggle to find cheap clothes to fit. cant buy from asda, primark etc as i have a 36" inside leg. sleeves are always too short and by belly hangs out of the bottom of cheap tops (not a pretty sight)
i get long tall sally trousers from ebay as i cant afford there new prices but any other suggestions would be apreciated!

Vixtress, I buy "Next" long length jeans and they now also do an extra long length. They cost from about £19.99 up (the £19.99 are really nice though)but I find them such good quality and a very reasonable price. :)
