I started Atkins a few weeks ago, mainly cause its the kind of diet my husband gets on with.

I'm starting to get a bit bored and I'm also getting a bit tired of cooking 2 meals every night.

I'd love some ideas for meals for all the family, maybe just adding a carb for the kids.....there is only so much 'hunk of meat and a bit of veg I can eat' and the rest of the family aren't fans of fish...its tricky!
  • Have you seen this website? - I know it's American but loads of recipes on there, I've often used it for inspiration

linda sue(genaw) site is great for recipes, there is also loads of info on lowcarbfriends

i cook 'normal' family meals and just add spuds for the rest of them and more veg on mine. i cant be doing with cooking 2 different meals lol

a few more ideas... lowcarb pizza (made with cauli or courgette) even my son loves that. crustless quiche, cheesy leeks, i use lettuce as wraps for all sorts, egg mayo, gaelic chicken (cooked chicken, broccoli, chicken soup mixed with mayo... pour over and bung in oven)

i could go on and on lol

Shykins - I love gaelic chicken - but we call it Chicken Myers... and add curry powder to the soup & mayo and then grate cheese over the top before putting in the oven......very yummy!!
Life....mmmm....still trying to figure that one out but what I do know is if I had all the answers it'd be a hell of a lot easier!!!!!!:p

I've had a look at Linda's website. It's got some great menus for induction...

I was wondering if anyone knows whether the pork sausage that she uses is sausage meat or chopped up sausages?

    Hi Knonie,

As your thread has dropped down the board I've added it to the existing one on low carb meal ideas.

    These threads may help too:

    Atkins recipes for UK users

This thread is for posting recipes and meal ideas only. For support and general chat about low carb diets the best place to post is this one on the health and beauty board:

mmm knonie never tried adding curry powder (i do to cold chicken and mayo to make coronation chicken). i do sometimes put cheese on top, my original recipe called for breadcrumbs too but obviously they are a no no

franki i suspect its sausage meat but u need to VERY careful with sausages and sausage meat as most have a LOT of carbs. u need to look at finest type ones which are far higher meat and less filllers (or ask your butcher)

btw i did lindasues chocolate torte and it was unbeliveably good!!

Dukan Galette is part of the Dukan Diet, it's not on here but google is your friend!!

I forgot about dehydrated soy mince http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/tesco-price-comparison/Rice_Pulses_And_Grain/Tesco_Whole_Foods_Soya_Mince_375g.html
yes it contains some carbs but it has loads of fibre and at 45p/100g containing 50g protein it is the cheapest protein dense food I can think of

The lowest carb vege mince I have found around is the new line that Marks and Spencer are doing, called something like Super Soya, it has just over 2g carbs per 100g and it is delicious.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
