I've booked an appointment for OH & I next week at the GP.

We are both at the same GP so have booked a double appointment.

I'm in Westfield Health & they have confirmed I can claim some money if I have a consultant appointment. I'm on the highest level scheme which gives 75% of up to £575 back for 'diagnostic consultations or treatment'.

I know this amount is a drop in the ocean if IVF is an option we choose but due to our ages (both over 40), I don't want to wait to move on with tests so will discuss the option of paying for private treatment with the GP.

Well it's at 9am that we had to drop off the sample - within an hour of "production" - cue stress about both a deadline and rush hour traffic! I made him get up earlier so he could wake up a bit more (he ended up doing exercises in the living room! :rotfl:). They give you a very unforgiving plastic pot to collect it in... which makes both of us freak about damaging the important area! :p (It seriously would be so much easier with a little bag you could slip over, instead of a pot! :o) It's pretty much impossible to get 100% of it (which they labour the point of in the letter) :o Then you get paranoid about it getting cold (they labour the point of warmth during transport) whilst both collecting and getting dressed/leaving/travelling/passing it over... then we got there (early as it happends!!), gave her the letter and form, then she asked for the sample, which I fish out of my cleavage! :rotfl: and she makes cracks about how the women always end up holding it and some stories about other patients who've hidden round the corner while their ladies have done the drop off :p But whilst she's saying all this, she's slamming the pot down and around, and putting it in a bag with the form and then just puts it on the side! We walked away, then I remembered I needed to know when they were open at New Years, for my CD21 test (they think I should go on CD20, which to me is pointless cos it won't show anything good, but it's either that or go on another cycle - I don't know which is worse...) - when we got back to the desk, it was still there, on the side, getting colder and colder!

I honestly, having been through that (relatively minor, I'm aware) ordeal, do not know how anyone gets anything like a decent result in an SA!!
FIL was ok, he is quite Victorian in his approach so nothing of any note was mentioned we just had tea and polite conversation and they went on their way.
    I guess that's a silver lining?

Littlezee, ((hugs)) for your nerve pain, I wish I could have it for few days while you have a bit of a break.
Glad your tooth is OK now:)
How did the SA go? Hope he didn't spill any:o
Thanks, but you'd soon regret that wish :o
My wrist's just clicked back into place, so I'm hoping at least why wrist will annoy me less for a bit! (It's been slightly out for a few days:o)
SA... see above :p I don't hold out much hope for a positive outcome :( but I did point out the issues and what things can affect the result, to DH, so I hope I've at least managed to prepare him for it not being brilliant :o

The lady on the desk said the result would be with the consultant in 7-10days, but with it being Christmas to give it a bit longer... but we're only due to see the consultant at the end of May, so I'm wondering if they'll tell me anything on the phone in the meantime...??

Just a quick one to say AF in imminent :( Got a smidging of brown CM so think it's coming tonight or tomorrow. On the bright side I am in relatively little pain...so I'm not complaining too much :) Hopefully the worst will be over before Sunday too :) Then I can get cracking on a September/October baby.

Pleased the filling went well bigzippy and that you found a new dentist for MIL. Hope your nerves settle down soon. I think you're very brave in the way you deal with your condition. Would something like a TENS machine help at all or is the pain too all over to be helped like this? Hope you're tucked up soundly asleep now and that this helps you.
Thanks SM :) I don't think I'm brave, just...used to it? I do have a TENS machine but a) the pads were not sticky any more (but sis did get me some for Christmas that I've now remembered about, and am hoping they're the right fit etc) and b) it's all over, rather than a specific location :o
 everybody. I've been missing in action too (without much action). I've been caught up a bit by another forum (not really a ttc forum - bigz will understand - related to our silly o'clock pm's) so have been keeping an eye on you all but didn't feel up to posting. Still no ov (unless it's slipped by without me noticing) so nothing ttc to report.
Hope it's giving you the right support SD :)

    Agreed :(
Is there another doctor at the practice that you can get to refer you instead?

Hey Bigz (waves)! At least that's one test down :o I'm sure they will let you know the results over the phone, it IS your OH's sperm afterall and I guess he has a right to know what's going on with it! Hope your pain eases off a bit to give you a Christmas break :o

Hello everyone else, hope you're all ok (sorry, I'm a right saddo who can't stop lurking but I honestly don't have anything better to do right now :D)

I've been super busy today, getting everything packed and sorted to take back to our hometown this evening. Also had to wash the bedding for three beds and get them back on because we are bringing friends back with us after Christmas.

Teamlowe sorry your doctor was rubbish is there another one you can go to? Like others have said, the aspirin some doctors prescribe during pregnancy is for some women who have problems with blood clots that can cause mc. It is baby aspirin they give you, which is a much lower dose than normal aspirin as normal doses that you get over the counter can cause problems in pregnancy.

Kitten can't believe your doctor didn't read your note properly. About a week after we lost Alex I had a phone call from the epilepsy nurse at the hospital to arrange my appointment (I had it as a kid so they like to keep an eye on you during pregnancy) and I had to explain to her that we'd lost the baby. :(

Kavics is it this weekend coming you are supposed to ov? I'd persevere, unless you have some other OPKs you could use, and just keep BDing.

The lines on my OPK were getting darker earlier some think I'm getting there. Going to do another one shortly just to see if it's any darker.

 hello colli, how are you doing?

Zippy sounds like you had a right faff with SA. Can't believe she just left it on the side, you'd think they'd be whisking it away.

    xx

Good thanks! Well got a bit of a cold like everyone else but nothing too major. I was 9 weeks yesterday, the same day my mc happened last time and also had my scan appointment through the post so had a minor freak out even though there hasn't been any sign of anything going wrong this time :o PMA seems to be back today though so I don't think I'm doing too badly!

You and all the other ladies who have lost their babies are very much in my thoughts at this time of year. I'm REALLY hoping for lots of cc's and a shiny start to the brand new year for anyone who's had it tough this year xxx

Ttc40 - hope it goes ok at the doctors, any help with funding is better than nothing but keeping fingers crossed you won't need it.

Me too. I found myself weeping at a rerun of Ugly Betty this morning. How pathetic is that! Really wish things had turned out differently and had my bubs in my tummy for Christmas. :(
