Congratulations Sa-ra-ra-ra and thanks for posting pictures of positive tests! love looking at them for some reason, guess i am a bit of a hippie and want some positive visualisation! lol

    doctors are buttholes
wouldn't refer me to the gynae, even though the gynae said i could go back when i liked because he couldn't see the point and 'we're monitored on our referrals'. like i give two hoots!
he also was nosey about the miscarriage, spent a while looking at the notes and asked me what happened, so i gave him the story and that the baby had died at 5 and a half weeks and he went 'says here 11 weeks' and i wanted to punch him cos he clearly doesn't understand what a missed miscarriage is. or you know, sensitivity. especially considering he kept saying 'you've conceived once' like i was meant to be happy with just an angel baby! not that i don't love her with all my heart, but i want my forever babies too.

in the end we compromised at me going back to see him in three months if nothing has happened by then and he'll do tests. so stubborn old me wants to not get pregnant til then to prove him wrong :rotfl:

as he wants me to monitor my cycles for the next few months i asked when i should count CD1 one from, when i have spotting or when the flow starts properly and he said 'you can tell the difference?' Gee, i wonder why i wanted to go to a gynae who knows about women's bodies. he also said PCOS doesn't increase the rate of miscarriage. what a tool.

he was very enthusiastic about my metformin (500mgx2 daily) saying it's what made me ovulate when i conceived. he had no real clue about OPKs, apart from 'give them a go' and to start it 14 days before my period is due, which doesn't sound right. he also said if i go back in three months he'll give me a progesterone test (at least he knew enough to say its called a CD21 test but i'd have it on CD28 cos of my 35 day cycle) so i might just BD frequently until then as there's no evidence that OPKs increase pregnancy rates in comparison to just regular intercourse throughout the month.

he also mentioned something about aspirin which the internet tells me is a good idea but only if your dr says so but not when to take it. any of you ladies know?

Apologies for the long, ranty self involved post. at least i used paragraphs :o

big hugs to you all x x

    Hi Teamlowe,

Sorry you are having such a hard time with your Dr. We had a similar experience with ours which was unsettling even though I took in my notes she only read part of them and kept asking how our other twin was doing. Twice my OH had to explain that they had both died :( It does seem a problem umoung GPs.

Once my OH diagnosed himself after the Dr couldn't find out what was wrong, googled what OH had said and then after confirming that the symptoms matched gave him medication.

Are you able to contact the gynae directly? Our Consultant said a similar thing so I got him to write to our surgery and send me a copy so that I have proof that we can be referred earlier than they would generally with the reasons why etc.

I believe if aspirin is to be used it is not the aspirin you buy for headaches but a much lower dose. I could be wrong but check it out before taking as there have been accidents where the public have used 'normal' dosage aspirin for long term conditions which have had detrimental effects.

I think proving him right may be a better option in this case:D

Some people have blood clotting issues which causes mcs. They are advised to take baby aspirin to thin the blood, thus avoiding mc.

    Afternoon all,

So so tired today, I can't wait for Xmas now and actually sleep quite a lot.

We BD yesterday too, twice :). OH is over the moon, he thinks he won the lottery:).
How is everyone doing with Xmas preparation? I finished baking the cakes this morning, and need to write a shopping list, we have no food in the house and won't be able to go to the shops till Sat morning after my dr app.

Emsbet, I think I remember you wrote that you start getting a line days before ov and than it becomes quite dark on ov day? Nothing happening on mine, supposed to ov at the weekend so not sure whether I should trust the internet cheapies or not. Thanks.

MY OH doesn't want to know when I ovulate, he would feel that he must perform. So I know when I ovulate and that's enough:). We BD often anyway (5 times a week usually, though sometimes it happens once during the weekdays and the rest at the weekend, sometimes every other day) but I want to know that when the time is right we def do it!

    Sa-ra-ra-ra - keep posting :D

TeamLowe - can't believe your doctor  it is frightening the level of ignorance around. When I saw the doctor on Monday she started ranting about the fact that only I was here and not DH and that men fail to see that it takes 2 and that they need to be a part of discussions/tests too. I told her that DH knew I was coming but that he was registered at a difference surgery and I had already forewarned him that he would have to do a SA.

Kitten - that is awful by your GP :( they should have know that before even speaking to you both.

Mrsj28 - it can be difficult for men as pressure does make it difficult for them to perform. I use a cbfm but do not tell him when I get a high or a peak and so when we bd he never knows if it is near ov time or not (this is helped by his lack of understanding as to time frames as he thinks if we bd just before af shows it might work :rotfl:) I think you have the right idea with the underwear as it is all about keeping it fun.

    Hi secretdebts :hello:

MrsJ - I know some people don't tell their OH when the 'important' days are.

Wouldn't work for me as we are usually once a week and then now he's getting it every other day (or more) when the time is right!

Can't offer any advice other than to trick him (meant in the best way), that it's about regular sex over a week and hope that most days it works out.

Prior to TTC, my OH said we should BD every day - but the reality is that he isn't 'up' for it when that's on offer!

In case anyone's thinking I'm made of money, the IVF I'm doing is what's called 'mild IVF', and it does not use much medication which means it's very cheap:money:
No medication = less eggs = less success rates = more IVF needed.
Ps. Secret debts, you have been missed
    Ditto!

I'm going to my parents for Christmas, so no need to prepare anything:cool:

    When in doubt, BD:cool:

Has anyone else had similar experiences or can anyone offer any advice?
I was told by the fertility doctor not to tell DH when I ov, but say I've already ov'd. It never worked of course, but it may work for you?
On an up note.... it's DH's birthday today and I have some nice underwear for tonight, so hopefully he will forget all about making a baby and just enjoy a bit of BDing!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl:
    Good luck!:j

Same with mine - I made a joke about my boobs being bigger today and he said 'maybe I've knocked you up'.... I decided not to tell him I need to ovulate for that to happen!

Thanks so much everybody for replies and advice - I told him last week that this week would be a good one to have lots of sex... every other night... and I think that was pressure enough! So next month I think I won't tell him anything, will use the OV sticks (haven't been doing them this month) and jump him at the right time!

We usually BD about two-three times a week, but sometimes only once during the week if we are both busy and tired, so I know that I need to be keeping an eye out for the right time!

Fingers crossed for birthday BDing tonight!

Thanks again everyone - think I just need to try and relax a bit!
