and then when we got home he got more upset saying how he was a rubbish boyfriend for not doing what I wanted him to do this weekend!!
I then started thinking that perhaps it had been on his mind this weekend too but he just wasn’t brave enough or didn’t feel the opportunity was there to do it….
This is exactly how it was for us. It took him 7 years to propose! I first started mentioning it about 3 years in and he didn't even begin to think about it until 5. I kept getting the whole later thing until then. And at that point he said yes we will but later on and talk a bit more about it. Once we had brought out house I thought what was putting him off? Before that I thought it was the stability of having a house. Crunch time came one evening when I managed to get more out of him ,. He said I don't know why I don't want to marry you. And that absolutely crushed me. I started planning to leave him but he wasn't happy with this as he didn't want to loose me. I was like well you knew from day 1 kids and marriage were on the cards. He said he wasn't bothered about wedding and it wasn't important for him but as it was to me we would do it one day. So more waiting later. I started planning guest lists, looking at venues brochues etc etc so that once he asked we were ready to go before he could drop out :rotfl:We even went as far as viewing a wedding fair and then I think this kicked him into it. About 3-4 months after he finally proposed in in the middle of a sex session. I thought it was a result of me nagging him earlier in the day. A few days or weeks later talking about it he said he had been scared to propose. He is very shy and the main thing was he just didn't know how to. He didn't want anything tracky, too over the top or not memorable and just had no idea how to do it. Poor guy :( Have to say I would never want to propose!

As for me, I'm sorry to report that I am actually a miserable s0d at the moment.

I don't have a lovely/good thing to say and I'm feeling angry/sad/bitter etc at the moment... so I was planning to stay away for a bit, but I doubt that's going to happen! I'm just trying not to post the bad stuff. *muffles self*

    Thanks ems, you're a star x

Congrats europa and any other BFP's I've missed :j

Jusy had a chat with mrhappy, I'm sure I read somewhere that it takes 3 months for any difference in what blokes do to have an impact on their swimmers, in July/August he really wasn't well with prostate stuff and was on loads of medication, so that may possibly maybe (clutching at straws here) had an impact on his wee guys.

PMA all the way this month:j
Was it you two that were having the SA? Hubbys worried he'll need one of them as apparently that was his dad's problem when his parents were TTC. we've only just started though so wouldn't be seen until 12 months.

I've got the DK book plan to get pregnant by zita west, fertility expert apparently and it says the same thing - that mens sperm takes 3 months to cook as it were... so even though hubby and i are taking his and hers pregnacare vitamins, it won't actually affect his sperm til 3 months time, helpful if we don't catch straight away...

another question from me... if AF hasn't arrived, do you always test 2 weeks after ov? I just realised that i was predicting myself to have a 28 day cycle so would be CD1 on sat as thats 2 weeks after ov but i could be longer couldnt i? i wasnt expecting to ov two weeks ago as i was only off the pill 20th oct... so maybe i was imagining i had?! oh dear, this is all so  why cant our bodies just do what we tell them?!

**ADD, congrats to the BFP's - i hope we all get this lucky :D

Yes, he/we have sent 1 sample in, have to do another in a couple of weeks and the results should be fairly quick after that. We were referred really quickly because of our ages (and I work with my GP, ssssshhhhhh!) I want to do as much as I can to help things along, hence the soy etc overload this month. We will just need to wait and see the SA results, but at the moment I'm not even thinking about them not being good-PMA!
He takes normal multi vitamins and generally eats pretty healthily, so fingers crossed.
Oh, food doc fertility stuff on, must watch!!!!!!

Thanks Gemma, going to keep a lid on it as I don't know where I'll stop! xx

I don't help myself by watching 16 ad pregnant. I am a glutton for punishment, so it would appear.

I think we all have our "glutton for punishment" things we do-mine is going to work which is like an episode of 16 and pregnant crossed with Jeremy Kyle!

Yes in general most people would get AF on average 14 days (I think its generally anything frmo 10-16 is 'normal') after ov.

But if you dont know for certain when you ovulated, then well.. you wouldnt know when those 2 weeks were!

also if you only came off the pill 20th oct, it could take a while to get into a cycle. I had to wait 45 days I think. Ive read reports on the net of some women not getting it for 6 months though! So yeah, everyone is different.

what made you think you ovulated? Are you temping?

Oh god I always watch that programme and drive myself mad with it. Especially with the ones who had sex literally once.

Oh yeah a bit of Jeremy Kyle just rubs it in further doesnt it. I watched it this morning and this guy was 20 and already had 2 kids with 2 different women, neither of which he was with. Grrrr!!

I jsut watched the food doctor programme. They said men needed zinc - well Ive already had DH on zinc tablets for about 3 months now. And then they said they needed anti oxidants. Like blueberrie, strawberries, citrus fruit - basically food that doesnt go brown - ie. stuff like apples and bananas.

it was very annoying though because they never had the couple come back and see if the guys sperm count had gone up! So I thought it was a bit rubbish really. All the other patients came back with reports of what had happened to them.
  • maybe they chose not to come back for some reason? well, we went to see nurse the same week and she said to note cm and mine was cloudy that day then got to stretchy and i had lower stomach cramps which i never got before so thats why i thought. but as we mentioned earlier, people can take ages to go back into cycles which is why i've started to doubt myself - maybe i just get cm? hasn't been stretchy since though...

i think i'm just scared its going to be AF/bfn so tricking myself into thinking i've done something wrong! should be writing a sociology essay instead but never mind, i'd rather think i'm faulty!!

thanks for putting up with me :)
