2ba3c, you must've surged sometime between 8pm last night and this morning when you had Peak (what time was it?).

So earliest would be 9pm yesterday, then you'll ov sometime between 9am - 1pm Sunday. It is cutting it a bit fine. Ideally you'd BD tonight as sperm has a way to travel. I know some sperm reaches the egg in an hour, but some can take longer.

Egg is fertilizable for 24hrs, but realistically 3hrs.
If you can get the donor first thing on Sunday, then it's still possible, but not ideal:o

One ov's 36-40hrs after the LH surge. People says it's 12-36hrs, but that's because one doesn't know exactly when one surged.

QQ - you are amazing.... you know it all! I really really appreciate your help and knowledge. (You should write a book!)

So the sperm needs to be in there and by the egg, before ovulation occurs? I know this is basic baby making, but I seem to struggling with understanding it all!

(I think I used the CBFM at circa 8:30 this am) - now I wish I had tested more last night, but it says up to 10pm and after that I thought I couldn't!

(btw, I'm converted on the IC OPKS, they totally do work!)

ETA: Another one on a new healthy eating kick here, trying to get a bit healthier for an uneventful eventual pg (mum was in hospital 5 months with me, I dont want a repeat). Using MyFitnessPal in the hope that food logging and group support will get me there. Is anyone else on it?
Well done on trying to be healthy:T
Although, the reason why your mum was in the hospital was probably not because she was eating unhealthily:o

So if my temp has dipped tomorrow morning (or does it peak) does that mean ovulation has occurred and so not worth it?
Dip means you may be about to ov but have not yet ov'd. The temp climbs once ov has taken place.
I always thought it was best the sperm was in there before ovulation because they take 6 hours plus to reach the eggy.
That's true, but some super sperms can reach the egg in one hour:cool:
With IUIs (where they inject the washed sperm near the fallopian tube), they prefer to do it 36-40hrs after the surge, as the sperm has less distance to travel, and they are tired after being washed:D

I always got a scan 40hrs after the surge, and the egg has not hatched every time:)

Hard to work out what my DPO is :(

And my AF is being weird. Thursday bright red spotting when I wiped in morning, very slight spotting seen later but dark old blood. Friday no spotting in morning, and dark old spotting in evening. Today is very very slight spotting which is dark. Worse month for me to date.
    I think your hormones haven't settled yet:o
The spotting you are having could be pre-AF spotting (hope not:o).
    Hang in there (((hugs))).

Nope, she was in hospital because of high blood pressure, docs have told me time and time again if I exercise and eat well it comes down so since I also have a ropey high bp history, now seems a good time to rein it in.

Egg can be fertilized for 24hrs after ov, so not necessarily.
It is a bit risky. If it is expensive, then I'd give it a miss, but personally I'd go for Sunday afternoon (or earlier if pos) if the temp was still low:o

    Thanks QQ -

One last quick question - if my temp is still low in the morning, or shall I be taking it throughout the morning too (or will it not read it properly because I've been moving about etc?)

Oooooo - and I just remembered something. Normally around ovulation I feel a pain (mittleschmerz or however you spell it!) - is this the eggy making it's way down the tube? Im trying to work out also, if I feel this, if it's not work trying.....
