  • Hi all - actually told someone that me and OH are "trying" today (my best friend who "eeeeked" when i told her LOL).... made it very real!

Just wondered how old on here everyone is? I may have missed if it does say somewhere..... only because i was reading an article somewhere yesterday that said it becomes harder to conceive once u pass 25years.... that made me panic a bit cos i was thinking that most people who struggled a bit (due to age, obviously some ppl struggle for other medical reason etc) were generally sort of "middle aged"?!?!

I am 29years and will be 30yrs in November this year.... i am now worrying that i am "Past it".... lol!
Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?

Don't worry too much bigmomma - my Mum was 33 when she had me and 35 when she had my sister and she conceived first time trying with both of us. It depends so much on so many different factors - lifestyle, your body, his body etc etc. Not everyone on here has revealed their ages, but if you look on the first post, you can see people's ages in brackets if they have.

ETA She went through the menopause at 46, so fairly young.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

OMG just caught up on the forum, so much has happened good and bad. Firstly hugs to ikkle and don't trust Google to give you advice.

Huge congrats to Embet on your BFP and sending you sticky bean hugs to the little fellow.
Huge hugs to anyone who needs them.

Off to see the gynaecologist at the end of January to see why I have cramps and mysterious bleeding.

Just to add to the pregnancy ages debate, I have heard that after the age of 35 years old a woman becomes less fertile. And according to most research women are most fertile in their teens.

    It's just crap.

We found out today that my MIL has cancer. Her GP thought she had gall stones but no it's cancer. I think she's still in shock but my OH won't talk to me about it, he got angry and went for a rather erratic drive in the car to cool down so we then ended up arguing about his driving. Now he's just sat there playing xbox ignoring me and I'm scared. Like an idiot I googled and now i'm scared of what's going to happen to my MIL, I'm scared what's going to happen to OH cos I don't know how he will cope but most of all I'm scared that if he keeps me shut out we won't survive as a couple.

    Its just crap :(

Sorry to hear that ikkle but do please stop Googling! My Dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer last year, like you i googled and basically decided he was going to die, but he had an operation, they got all of it and he is fine! Try not to panic, they are so good with cancer these days they really can work miracles.

Hugs ikkle thats an awful way to start the year, I understand why you want it over!

Congrats to the BFPs I've missed.

I hope you don't mind, but I think I'm on my way back to join you. GP has booked me in at EPAU on Mon but I think I already know what it will say. Just couldn't manage more than a week away :o

:( Bug hugs. Hope everything is OK but we are here for you whatever happens, you know that. :A

I will be 37 on the 23rd. I don;t seem to have trouble getting pregnant, usually first month we try, I just have trouble keeping them. In theory, yes, fertily drops after 35 for women and 40 for men, but in practice there is a big range of normal.

Today we took DD to the park and found a handbag by the swings. There was almost no-one there cos it was getting dark, so in the end I decided to bring the bag home rather than leave it to the mercy of the drunken teenagers later tonight. I searched through it and found a purse with loads of credit cards in, and luckily a donor card with a next of kin contact number, so I called it and it was the bag owner's parents who'd not only left the bag there, but no-one had realised!

They came and collected it for their daughter (who is visiting so had there been no number I'm not sure the police would ever have been able to reunite her with the bag, I was going to take it to the police if there were no contact details inside) and to thank us gave us two jars of homemade honey (the grandmother has an apiary) AND a bottle of wine!

How lovely is that? I can;t actually drink the wine till I know if I am PG, but I thought it was so nice of them. Totally unnecessary as I was just happy to have got the bag back to its owner, but really nice of them all the same.

    So I feel all virtuous!

Evening - am only supposed to be lurking but had to post and say Emsbet - congratulations! I am so so pleased for you!! No point in telling you not to worry cos you will (totally natural) but try to relax just a wee bit. This has so cheered me up this evening!!!

Congrats to T-Sil as well. Am loving all the BFPs - makes me feel so much more positive!

Huge hugs to ikkle and DibDabb.

Well, I think I'm CD13 and I think I'm on course for ovulating tomorrow or the day after. However, trying not to think about it as I might start to obsess about it a bit much!

Skintchick - that was lovely of them! And lovely of you for managing to find them. Most people would just leave it. i probably would but am of a certain age having grown up in Norn Iron - am a bit suspicious of lonely bags! Lol!

RIght - am off again. Watching Harry Potter with DH.
  • I haven’t been around for a couple of days, my Grandma has been taken into hospital and I have been super busy at work. Initially the hospital thought my Grandma might have had a mini stroke but it is now looking like a urine infection - all pretty worrying as she is in her late 90’s.

Think I have caught up on what’s been going on........

    Welcome to AlternateMe

Massive congratulations to emsbet, elelyn and T-Sil. I hope you all have a healthy and happy 9 months :j

Hugs to ikkle 87. Also hugs to QQuaver, so sad to hear about your last egg.

Think I am going to get into trouble from QQuaver for ss’ing but I have felt nauseous a couple of times over the last couple of days, am always hungry and slept for 10 hours last night which is unheard of for me. It could have something to do with the overtime and rushing to the hospital but I’d like to think it because I am pregnant! I also have had some pains in my stomach but this could be due to the fact I had 3 weeks off from the sport I play over Christmas but was back for a match on Thursday.

I can’t remember who asked the question but no-one knows we are TTC (apart from my doctor). It’s so difficult to keep it a secret. I am really close to my Mum and finding is hard to keep it from her.

I am not sure if / when I ovulated this month, AF due on Tuesday if 28 days although every second cycle is a lot longer so possibly looking at not being due until 20th/21st. I would like to test soon but DH wants to wait longer as is worried I will be upset with a BFN. November was our first month of trying and i took it quite hard when AF arrived last month.

Sorry this is turning into a novel (well done if you have managed to get this far)

Hugs to those that need / want them

    .
That did cross my mind but I don't think many people would bomb an empty playground in a Thames-side town! One other mum said to me 'I kicked it in case it was just rubbish'. But everyone else would have left it, I think.

I just thought if it were my bag I'd want someone to try and find me.

:j:j Wow! Great news, emsbet, awesome.
Easier said than done, I know, but try and enjoy your pregnancy, and don't worry, for it achieves nothing. Best of luck.
TSIL, brilliant work, congratulations to you, relax and enjoy.

    MrsJ - hugs for cd1,
Ikkle, sorry to hear about your MIL. Hope they caught it in time.

Arf at all you young pups! I got pg with DS at 35, am 37 now and still hopeful we will have at least one more baby.

I don't use OPKs but going by my average cycle, hopefully I OVed today, so fingers crossed we caught, or do so in the next few days.

I have never been to IKEA. I like hunting down old furniture on eBay or antique shops.
