DD accepted to 1st choice grammar. Thrilled and relieved!! Thanks to all of you for help and support throughout this process.

Our kids have done themselves proud regardless of how things have worked out. If they apply the same commitment and determination in their new schools, they will succeed in all they do and finish their education as well rounded young people.

Good luck to all for the future. I'll be going through this all again in another 3 years - we may catch up with each other then. Xx

My brother got into his first choice high school, no surprise there since me and my 2 sisters went there.

His friend scored 104 and applied for Friends didn't get in, heading to Hunterhouse and she is disappointed.

Just glad its all over now and looking forward to September :D
  • :( It wasn't to be trying to pick up the pieces and see were we go from here. We are going to see about appealing but until we have all the information we don't know where we stand.

Congratulations to all the kids that got there first choice place I am truly delighted for you. :T

This confused mummy has got alot more confused in the whole system. :'(

Thank you for all your support over the year!
  • Don't give up. Our children need us at all different times of their lives and this is one of them.
All good fortune and I can not believe that it will not work out for the best in the end.
Kids are strong and with our support they can be invinceable.
  • gutted here...didn't get either of 1st two... with score of 103 and an A respectively.... 3rd choice = devastated. as he told his sister"what more can I do, I tried so hard and it was not worth anything"... we had special circumstances... but not one button of difference did it make. 9 tied for 2 places on 103. criteria applied and wee son didnt get in. good friend from same ps with same score did get in.... aaarrrgghhhhh. try telling that to 11 year old.
    2014 reach my best.

That must be so hard to explain to the wee fella Travellinglight.

That was one of the advantages of the old system. When there were situations like this at least the kids (and parents) were not so acutely aware of the precise details and so it was a wee bit easier to deal with.

    Really sorry.

Are you happy with the quality of the school that he has been accepted by?

At the end of the day I suppose that is the most important thing. Very hard to deal with just now but I'm sure he will get over his disappointment more quickly than you will and as long as he ends up happy it will be okay.

Are many of his friends going to the school he has been accepted by?

    Rotten seeing them unhappy though.

Travelling light you are not alone....to say we are gutted doesnt even describe how we feel. I Feel so sorry for my daughter 12+ points above an a grade and still not accepted to her first school! Hope your wee man knows he isn't the only one out there that is feeling disappointed tonight!
