  • In our case it went down to distance from the school and we obviously weren't close enough. Time to up sticks an move the house :rotfl: We had the same Aqe score as the last children admitted :/
  • gutted here...didn't get either of 1st two... with score of 103 and an A respectively.... 3rd choice = devastated. as he told his sister"what more can I do, I tried so hard and it was not worth anything"... we had special circumstances... but not one button of difference did it make. 9 tied for 2 places on 103. criteria applied and wee son didnt get in. good friend from same ps with same score did get in.... aaarrrgghhhhh. try telling that to 11 year old.

Oh travelinglight i know how you feel my son was 1 of those 9 for the same school and got his 2nd choice! Devastated beyond belief, I really hope your son is ok and of course you!

Not rubbing salt in anyones wounds but I think some need a little dose or reality.

It's done, it's over so rather than wail about it I'll be getting behind my son and focusing on the next seven years rather than getting tied up over the AQE system.

Must say, I agree with your original post, although I think you could have put your thoughts a little more sympathetically..

If parents are not going to accept the downside of selection, then don't take part. It is very unfortunate that some kids have to go through this 'disappointment' but as has already been said, the kids will get over it within day's,

Was the school Grosvenor? What was his second choice?

Did you apply for SC before or after results? If it was before then it may have been taken into consideration when he was given his score???

Which school has he ended up with?
not how it works....applied by the BOG for each school who look at application and supporting info.. then they make judgement .... this is the bit which is not transparent so only option is to appeal.

yes. 2nd choice aquinas..... 3rd is his lot.... he is asking why when he worked so hard...got same as others etc etc.... no answer will work at the moment - need to let him know it's ok to be disappointed and give him time to adjust .... no point forcing him to be cheerful... time enought to help him move on over the next 3 months...

what's 2nd choice for you? How do you feel about it? I guess you had no relative currently at school / weren't eldest child? x Really hope it works out for your ds. x

  • I have read all of your posts today and getting behind your son is probably the most constructive thing you can do.
This is a support thread and many of your comments were neither supportive nor polite.
My best wishes to you and your son and your endeavours on his behalf

What was your 3rd choice? I heard Grosvenor came down to random selection for the last few places.
