Support thread for parents of chilldren sitting the transfer test in 2011

Oh I thought we would receive them on Monday aswell. The letters are probably being sent out mid week and not weekend so no library boards have to pay their staff over time to answer the phones to distraught parents on a day off :eek:. Does anyone know the process for allocation of places, I just have visions off my form floating around schools and royal mail boxes.

This time next week it will all be over! I for one will be glad no matter what this has been an agonising 16 weeks!

The allocation process is as you thought if 1st preference decline the form goes back to elb to be sent out to 2nd preference and this is repeated until your child's score and criteria are accepted! Even if your child has been accepted provisionally they can be knocked out by others who's form comes in 2nd 3rd or 4th etc if their score or criteria betters your child's!

Thought as much Charliedevil. Do you know is there a time scale for all transfer forms to be returned to the elb. And do the elb write to us next week or is it the school that confirm the place.

When my kids have gone through this in previous years we have got 2 letters. One form the ELB stating which school your child has been accepted by and another from the school with some info about introduction days etc.

I have to say I think it's daft doing this on a Tuesday. Saturday was better and then the kids had a bit of a chance to come to terms with things before they went back into school.

I assume the reason for a change to mid week is so that there are people there to answer the phones at the elb offices!

The primary school know nothing until parents and students are informed! Elb send letters out! The deadline for transfer forms was may 9th I think!

Just heard from a mummy that her child had an aqe score of 96 and only one school on the transfer form and she got a letter few weeks ago asking for a second school as she had been refused 1st choice scary bickies
