For all those affected by late postal arrival, you can arrange to collect your letter directly from your local sorting office.

They charge a fee of £1 or so but you can collect first thing. Numbers for each area in phone book (or google). Just request in advance and bring I.D.

Good luck to all for Tues. xx
  • results day post was v v late for us.... wee son wants me to bring his letter to school at 3:45 when he finishes choir so he can open it there. I hate this idea and hope he'll be easily moved on..... would be great if parents could all get e-mail at 0900 - after kids in school, so we can get the right face on for later. ... it's a rubbish post servie - and we are greater belfast!

Would have to agree rubbish postal service!!
Im not sure what way to play the day either ds school has said they can have the day off or come in later in morning or leave early (depending on when post arrives lol).

too many options for my liking......we have 1 - go to school!!!!!
    2014 reach my best.
  • School is our option too!!
  • So the big countdown has finally reached its final hours and I for one am nervous as hell! All the rumours are pointing to a higher standard this year than last! Good luck to all and I will post my daughters new school on here tomorrow!
  • Oh the nerves are not good today sick with the thought of rejection. In just a few hours the letter will be here that decides the next 5 or 7 years of my childs life  Good luck to all of you
  • Does anyone know if you are rejected or accepted does it give you the lowest score accepted without special circumstances and does it give you information on how to appeal a decision :/ in the letters that come tomorrow
  • To Confused mummy and everyone else.
The system will divulge as little information on scores, and how the system works, as they can get away with.
Eventually you can prise information out of them under Freedom of Information.
It is not clear why they guard this information so closely but I suspect that if we are not in full possession of all the facts then it is easier for them to hide errors and poor decisions.
No one can satisfactorily explain to me why the process of selection (after results are available) takes so long.
If applications are provided to the schools in csv (excel like format) and the schools have a workable excel (or any csv) data base for selection then each school only needs half a day maximum to make their initial selection. This can even take account of all the special needs candidates. Then all the backwards and forwards notifications of children rejected for their first choice can take place to second, third choice etc. A month maximum should be sufficient.
The system is a complete and utter shambles and should be exposed for what it is.
Any half competent database programmer could sort this out.

My very best wishes to you all and the children for tomorrow.
It has been a long wait and my DD is starting to show the strain.
    All the best

Afaik it's the special circumstances appeals that take a long time.
Perhaps a good program would sort it but who would pay? DENI has nothing to do with selection anymore. Schools use 2 systems (GL/AQE) but a program would need to dovetail results from both systems to allocate places.

If you have said program, it'd be worth approaching GL and AQE to see if they were interested.
