An interesting thought - do we post for our own egos?

I like to post to share my experiences, ask for help, offer help, tell people how I have helped myself, saying what worked and what didn't work, with a view to helping people help themselves, which ultimately only they can do. A nugget of information or a thought or a word can really inspire.

It feels good to try and help people, maybe we offer what you want, maybe it is useless to you, maybe it can be delivered in a clumsy way, but we do care.

It is good to see we are not alone with how we see life and how people seem to us.

With charities, it is a group of people, and not any individual I tend to donate to. I don't know what any given person has to deal with except maybe one disease or condition, not their age, family, location etc.

This site is far more individual. I don't go surfing this site to make myself feel good. I see souls needing help and if I can offer to talk about my life experience to help others, I will, for them, not me.

Thanks guys, I do appreciate what you are saying and I apologise for not having the strength to not post. I will try harder.
I feel you have issues of trust or not trusting people, you tend to go so far, then back off, then come back again.

It happens to me too, usually because someone says something that hurts me when I least expect it or if I feel no-one cares. I tend to go off and lick my wounds, then return when I feel better.

It is perfectly natural if you have been hurt more than usual. You can only trust at your own pace.

    Hi peeps,

Had my usual weekend with "my woman". Another great time - 4 whole weekends together without a single bad moment. This is so different from my last relationship. I haven't done a single bit of revision for course yet - must start. My doctors note runs out today so I've got a dreaded trip to the doctors. I don't know what his plans are for me, but last week is the worst headache week i've ever had. I should be happy as i'm am taking steps back to work and my relationship is great. But walking in the park today I just get the feeling that my happier times are just the times when I let myself wallow in denial. I don't know.... I don't think the ADs are doing anything, my headaches are awful, and even my back is jipping me.

Hi to the newbies, tevangelynne, djdido, lexy, natty etc.
Hi to the regulars, tiff, sazzy, miro (back), stenny, feelie, CC, gemini, blinky, Ethel, beer....
Hi to the others I've forgotten (It is 1am!!)

Spring is on it's way, and with it comes more daylight hours and sunshine.

    xxxx

I have just finished reading back - phew!!
Girls are gonna love the way I toss my hair. Boys are gonna hate the way I seem.

I would rather drown with you than watch the surf with someone else

  • Morning, I can tell I'm near enough back to 100%, I've got that feeling of restlessness, of boredom when Im off work etc!

I havent had that for a good few months, usually its me hoping that time doesnt go too quickly so that I dont have to go to work, or im happy to stay in the house away from problems, once ive sold my car (cleared finance) then things will be better and I will be able to get my funds around and clear most of my debts, then work towards paying off my loan that my parents got for me.

I was looking just now on my internet banking page, and realising that my direct debit list will be so small once they are all paid off :) Will be a nice feeling to cross off 4 debts on my sig but manage to add only one :).

I do get alot out of helping people, and yeah, it would make me feel great to think what I said to someone had made them smile even for a second. But I'd feel like that wherever I think, it's my personality and I try and reflect it in my career I really hope I can make a good midwife, it's all about offering advice and help and being there for someone. I think I'd get an awful lot of good feeling out of it, but does that make it selfless? I'm not sure. I guess I post on here wishing I could help someone feel a tiny bit better, because I feel better reading other peoples post, kind of like we swap posts to make each other feel better. Though I've not being here long so don't really feel I make a difference, but that's ok. I hope I can make a difference somehow someday to someone. It's so easy to make someones day and sometimes we don't see how. This went a bit off tangent. I want to feel like a good person who can do good things. I wonder if I ever will.

I had excellent midwives when I had my son and it made the experience a real pleasure. I did have to talk to an old dragon and she really upset me. Had I had a nasty negative midwive, the birth would have been far more traumatic.

A good midwife is worth their weight in gold.

Hi to everyone - old and new:)

The house is definitely on the ESPC (Edinburgh Solicitors Property Centre) now - a place where a pool of agents uses a place to advertise local properties.

For the non Scots or ones people who don't understand what I mean, most agents are solicitors as well as selling agents. It is very different up here selling houses. We have 'offers over', you go upwards on the price and get involved in closed bidding if several people are interested. Or it is fixed price which is more like the rest of the UK.(stenny may be able to explain it better):)

It is on their site now and looks good. I worked for the ESPC in 2003 and it was good.

The house looks good and I feel restless too. I doubt anything will happen till Thursday plus and will need to quickly tidy up, dust and vacuum, wipe the bathrooms and kitchen and dress the place. Get me glammed up too, so about 6 hours are needed (5 of which is glamming me up):D

My OH had a hissy fit over a wire that is dodgy and cuts off the network, it costs £10 to replace and been playing up for months. He started panicking about tax bills that are due in September and paying for laptops etc on his reduced pay. I said we discussed all this and using what he overpaid me to pay for them but getting the interest now.

I told him our son and life has been playing us up. We are still playing catch up from last year. We need to get rid of the car somehow - we got offered £500 pt exch on a newer car and it will cost about £300 ish to repair.

We need to get A&L sorted but they are such fob offs, and being so s-l-o-w (yawn). I shall close all my accounts if they don't help us, when someone else has better rates of interest.

If the place sells quickly, we will have to decide on what next. If it takes ages, it will be a drag and I do want to be out of here before the summer. Last summer was hell on earth. The summers before weren't much better. Our neighbours are inconsiderate a/holes and hope they get the message about the For Sale sign!

Regarding people who work in professions where they help people.

We all want job satisfaction as well as a pay packet.

Some people cannot help others by nature and would be lousy counsellors, nurses etc.

The people who enjoy helping others are well suited to these professions.
