The main reason I have a cupboard full of tat is not because I enter any and every competition there is (there are not enough hours in the day for that!), it's because I end up with a runners up prize, e.g. the welly drinking vessel!

I mostly enter competitions for things my OH, kids and mum-in-law would like. We're going through a difficult time at the moment and I keep thinking if I could just win a holiday or a cash prize it would make everything all right. However, they don't approve of the amount of time I'm on the laptop so it's definitely time for a break for me.

August wins: Jessica Chivers coaching session, Bacardi welly, Nails Inc polish x 2, Aerobie, Simple Eyes pack, Disney Jr cinema tix, Heinz BBQ Sauces, Models Own mascara, Anchor memorabilia x 2, Lipsy necklace, Cushelle Koala x 2, Andrex Puppy, digital skills kit, play tent, tix for National History Museum, sweet vouchers, Paul Mitchell serum

    Hi,Goblin36

You really need to try a form filler like Roboform as suggested.Your odds will increase as you'll be able to enter loads more in the same time.

    Good luck

I've not been able to get to grips with Roboform. It works like a dream in IE but I prefer to use Chrome. I find Roboform slows down my browser and won't fill in half the forms. I make do with Chrome's autofill which isn't ideal and another reason why I'm getting frustrated with comping!

Well i would just like to thank you all, for the advice and kind words.

    I will look into roboform

Reading some of the posts, I don't think i enter enough, lol, i don't enter half as many as a lot of people have mentioned.

I don't enter comps for books, dvd's, games, toys etc as i don't have children, i wouldn't have any use for these items and it takes away the chance from people who do have children from winning, well that's what i think.

I only started comping to take my mind off things, i found it helped and cheered me up, but now i'm getting a bit fed up with it, if i'm honest. (just like the constant knock backs from the hundreds of jobs i have applied for, over the last year and getting no where, but that's another story and the wrong forum)

    I must just be unlucky!

So i think i will take the advice offered and take a break from it all, and come back refreshed and with a more positive attitude.

Thanks once again, everyone, you are all great!

And good luck to you all xxxxx

Sorry to hear about your job situation. I was made redundant in March, my hubbie has been laid off three times and faces being laid off in the near future and my son who is 22 has never had a job. My university educated daughter works for an agency and is worried about her job security.

I have never known times to be so hard for people and I am sure that is why it is so hard to win comps because so many people are doing them in the hope of winning or to take their mind off things.

I'm getting fed up with it and I've decided to have a break as from today! I'll still carry on with the ITV comps and a few regular ones on Facebook and Twitter but that's it.

I've been comping since the end of April and have had some fantastic wins, the best being £1,000 Co-Op vouchers which we're going to put towards a holiday. I've recently become a bit obsessed with comping and have been spending as much time as I can on Facebook and Twitter during the day and then staying up late going through the MSE comps by end date.

I've only had small wins recently and the kitchen cupboards are filling up with tat that I neither want or need! When I took delivery of a plastic welly drinking vessel this morning I decided enough was enough!

I'm going to have a break for a few days, crack on with the housework which has been neglected of late and get out and about instead of sitting at the laptop all day! When I come back to it I'm just going to enter comps where the prize is something I really want!

Hahah, I LOVE my welly loads! :p

I love comping. I don't track how many I enter but spend probably an hour or two a day (I work part time due to an illness and I find it relaxing!) I'm easily pleased so tend to enjoy all my wins, even the mini ones.

Have a little break and I will send lots of lucky vibes your way in the interim!

I'm really happy to see people win and i hope i don't sound selfish but i wish it was me too.

Been comping now for nearly 12 months and have had 2 small wins (hand cream & hair removal wax) which i am grateful for, don't get me wrong, but i enter hundreds and don't seem to get anywhere.

All i get is an inbox full of emails, and not winning ones

I would be grateful for any encouragement and advice please.

    Thank you.

    (Sorry to moan)

Definitely dont give up, I am sure there is a decent win around the corner for you. Come back and let us know when you get it.

Ive been comping for 3 years and have had some nice wins, but only one biggie worth about £2500, not nearly so big as some. Most of the time I am happy with small wins, mascaras etc but am really pleased when I get something around £100. Good luck

I can't really add to the great advice you have already given apart from this ,im sure a lot of the comps you have entered haven't even been drawn yet,so every day you have that chance of getting that winning E-mail,call or posties knock to surprise you if you dont enter then you wont have that chance ,i hope something comes along to put a smile on your face, all the best and good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Ha ha, thanks! I don't know what I was expecting from the welly, but I was just so disappointed when it turned up, lol!

I've just been getting too obsessed with comping lately and becoming stressed out if I get behind with entering them by end date. It's become too much of a chore for me now which isn't good so I think a little break will do me the world of good.

Good luck to everyone and a big thank you to all those who post comps :)

It isn't how many comps people enter that really fascinates me, it is the dedication and motivation of those like Lakshmi and weeowens who constantly find comps for others to enter. That is so time consuming - not only finding the comps but also posting in the format that most approve of etc. Although many people click on the Thanks button they would not know the posters if they passed them in the street yet they are responsible for getting many people some big wins.
We may get fed up entering comps but don't they get very fed up finding them? I hope they win a lot.
