  • Well I registered a couple of minutes before 9 on Wednesday when the link went live. I got my registration email immediately, my loyalty scheme email after approx. 24 hours and (FINALLY!) my evoucher email this afternoon. I've just booked tickets for a day out in Cardiff for just £4 for me and the two littluns. :TResult!:T Tickets waiting for me at the station. I was preparing to spend £15ish to get us all there so I've got a bit of spending money for the Lego store ;):D
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.
  • (Oh, and ATOS Origin used to do our payroll at Threshers- I only had a problem once and it was cleared up to my satisfaction in no time.)

Can I ask a really dense question? I was lucky enough to get my code though yesterday and intend to use it in conjunction with my Family & Friends Railcard.
However, when I book my ticket and put outward and return journey times, do I actually have to travel at that time or can I return at any time I want to? TIA x

If you click the boxes giving you the cheaper fares then YES you will need to book specific trains and times and STICK TO THOSE trains when you travel.

Only open tickets allow more flexible travel - these are much more expensive.

The difference is prices can be enormous which is why it is important not to miss any cheap ticket trains you are booked on as this renders any ticket invalid !

Example - an open return to and from London can be more than £100.

Booking cheap tickets for specific trains/times can sometimes get this down to £20 if there are special £10 fares each way. But you absolutely must be on those specific trains with a pre-booked ticket.

Can't understand why some people are getting in a tizzy because their voucher isn't there yet; the terms & conditions said to allow 72 hours! You therefore have until some point tomorrow to hopefully receive them, there's really no point fretting until that time has gone...

You are right of course but human nature makes us a tad curious when it comes to promotions like this. I haven't got a code and have resigned myself to not getting one but can't help checking my account. It's daft I know - it's only £10 at the end of the day :)

If you purchase a ticket solely using the Redspottedhanky eVoucher, then any credit/debit card can be used if you pick up from a Ticket Machine. This worked for me yesterday.

I believe if part payment in cash is made, then the card used for the purchase must be inserted to initiate the ticket collection process (as per usual).

Thanks for the info. If I choose to travel Off Peak do I still have to stick to the exact train times I have booked, or can I travel at any time during the Off Peak price band?

I usually travel to London with my children using the Family & Friends Railcard which takes the price down considerably. I buy an Off Peak Travelcard so that we can use the underground. I buy this at the railway station not online and so I don't have to ask for specific outward and return train times. We just potter back home when w're worn out. I do check on the First Great Western site that our tickets are valid for a few different return times, and choose from one of them when we decide to come home.

Hope that makes some sort of sense! x

I got mine & bought tickets to London, but I've paid, and at the bottom of the Order Confirmation, it lists the original price, not the price with the voucher (but the voucher is mentioned higher up) Is this normal?
