Well for my first day i haven't done bad! I've only thrown away a bit of brocoli that was starting to go mouldy, used the bit that didn't look too bad though:rotfl:

Also used carrots that had been there a while, also new potatoes and suede that i bought ages ago. Thanks guys, as i don't think i would have bothered so much if i didn't have anywhere to go and get advice from. Plus will mean cheaper shopping bills, yey:T

Did anyone see the lady on TV this morning who'd written a book called 'second time around'?
She was in her 80's & her hubby was in his 90's it was interesting & some of her recipes looked good.

If you have tomatoes then skin them (dunk them in boiling water for several seconds the skin splits and they are easier to peel) OR use tinned tomatoes .
Put into a bowl and chop up with the boiled eggs... rather like chopping up a toddler's dinner:rotfl::rotfl:
    Salt and pepper to taste.
Ready made sandwich filler that is tasty and moist... no need for mayo.
    This mixture will also freeze.

I have 3 hard boiled eggs in the fridge, been there since yesterday. What can I do with them ? No cold meat for salads in the house.
    Egg mayonaise ?
Use them in a fish pie ?
    Scotch Eggs ?

Making some soup at the moment. June is a tight month for us as we have our anniversary, youngest stepson's birthday, my birthday. The contents of he soup pan are an ice-cream tub that was full of veg stock from previous cooking of veg for various dinners, carrots, a potato, an onion, some chopped up celery (lotf os leaves) < ed to add here - can you tell I've been on the wine???>and about half a sorry looking organic cabbage - oh and I found a bag of some chopped veg and put that in as well. I have a feeling it was more cabbage. Ah well. I added just one stock cube. I still have a load of freezer portions of home made food and am determined to come under budget. OH has announced that he wants to be on a health kick this month and my frozen delights are mostly things like spag bol. Ah well I will just have to send him off for multiple jogs.

oops/ Sorry had to throw some stuff out. Had a jar of yeast extract in the fridge for I don't know how long. A couple of spring onions as husband say he will not eat them now.

Some soft cheese stuff in a tub as a husband does not like it. And I know I will not like it. And two sausages from the freezer. As I don't know how long them have been there for as I did not date them.

I am off soon to meal plan for next week. As I want to run stocks down in both chest freezer and my fridge freezer. As I want to defrost my chest freezer. Had three years and never done it

    Yours

We're on FACE (Freezer And Cupboard Emptying) regime at the moment. I do this roughly once a quarter as I tend to forget what is in there and end up not using the stuff. This also means that it's rare for an item to get close to its Use By; although I don't often take any notice of these anyway ;) Oh, and it's also an opportunity to defrost the freezer before it turns into an ice cap.

I reckon I have another weeks worth in the freezer as I've planned down to the last ice cube and hpe this means that I will have another week of very little waste. I think I've thrown away a satsuma and an apple from the fruit bowl but nothing else as I have been determined not to waste anything. I do define 'waste' as 'inedible by anyone' though, so if the dog can eat something it heads for his bowl.

    Hello everyone,

I am starting this challenge from today as thats when im back home from ym weekend away :)

I got my shopping on Thursday last week and i went away on friday so im going to have to use all the salad stuff thats due off on the 3rd tomorrow. I will make chicken tikka wraps for Tea tomorrow.

Hope fully i won't chuck anything away. I know there is some spag bol mix in fridge that i was going to use for the kids on Friday night but we ended up going away so that will have to be binned im guessing.

    Hope everyone is okay

Hi all, I just wondered if anyone could tell me how long a tub of naturally low fat yogurt is safe to be open?
I get the smart price one so there is no plastic lid on it, but I find due to the smell and taste I'm not sure I could tell if it was bad?

I think it has been open since maybe last Wed or Thurs? Will I have to chuck it??

I would throw it away after it been open 3 or 4 days. But thats just my opinion.
