Well, we have about 8 strawberries in the fridge, looking a tad tired. Gonna coat them in chocolate and eat after tea mmmmmmmm
Last night I made croissant bread and butter pudding using two croissants that were a tad crunchy (been left over since the weekend)- followed a recipe from bbc website, basically using honey/custard/croissants/sugar. Hubby and I felt rather decadent, and all with something that would have been chucked plus a few store cupboard ingredients. Even feeling bad about throwing peelings away but have now ordered a green bin from council so will be putting things like that in there and the garden will get the nutrients from themBut just read the post below this and I FORGOT ABOUT THE WORMS!!!!!

We put all our peelings and fruit scraps in ours along with grass clippings paper from the shredder etc. and it never fills up, it just keeps dropping down and of course after about a year, nice brown compost for the garden.
I have actually just started a bit of container gardening BUT I have a huge phobia about worms - that new compost advert has me running for the kitchen! There's no way that I could cope with a compost bin.
Yeah I know that I could get help for this thing - but I don't really find that it affects my life too much. They live in the soil - I live in the house - problem solved! And if you all think I'm such a woos - you should see me where fish are concerned - that's even worse!
On the other hand, I'm fine with spiders/creepycrawlies and mice/rats.0 -
Why do kids do this!!!!!!!!!!
This morning both of my DC announce they no longer like cornflakes!
They now love weetabix, I can't argue with this as weetabix is a healthy choice for them but what do I do with the left over cornflakes??
There is about 1/6th of a box left.
Thanks0 -
Bar of value chocolate and you can make cornflake cakes... or better still let them do it!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Cornflakes - well how about googling for a recipe for chocolate-covered cereals (think it could have been "Rice Krispies" - but dont see why cornflakes wouldnt work).
My query is - coconut oil. I have been using up a jar of it I have as body lotion. It works fine - but I dont think I'd better continue with that - as I suspect it might be clogging the pipe leading to my bathroom sink.
So - I'd better keep it for food purposes only. But....I'm on a diet at the moment. So - can I freeze it?0 -
Thanks for the cornflake tips I was thinking savoury, didn't even cross my mind to do sweet things. Thanks.0

Make chocolate cornflake cakes? I'm sure they would eat them coated in chocolate wouldn't they?0 -
I'm so getting into this. I have just spoke to my neighbour (who works in Waitrose) to ask her if she can get me some cheap veggies at the end of the day so I can make soup using my spicy frozen soup and the lentils I have in my cupboard. I have made some jelly and used up some trifle sponges which have been sat in the cupboard since Christmas and DD has just made some cornflake cakes using up some spare chocolate and the cornflakes they no longer like but will readily eat when covered in chocolate!!0

Cornflakes bashed a little but not to powder,
- spread on a pastry base & drizzled with a couple of tablespoons of golden syrup...bake as for jam tart:drool: Can be served hot/cold, with/out cream/custard..ssssslllllllluuuurrrpppp:D Actually it's a good way to use up the dregs in the bottom of the pack as long as there's some crunch too.
- mixed with grated cheese for topping on lasagne, sheep pie etc
I sliced & diced a punnet of mushrooms for the freezer & some were left out with intention of using Sat.....but they didn't....so:shhh: they got buried on a HM pizza[our first ever!] yesterday.

What about crushing them and using as a crispy topping on a sweet or savoury flan ?
