I have just spoke to my neighbour (who works in Waitrose) to ask her if she can get me some cheap veggies at the end of the day so I can make soup using my spicy frozen soup and the lentils I have in my cupboard. I have made some jelly and used up some trifle sponges which have been sat in the cupboard since Christmas and DD has just made some cornflake cakes using up some spare chocolate and the cornflakes they no longer like but will readily eat when covered in chocolate!!
Can you return the favour to her? Say, send her something round when you've been baking? Just to let her know you appreciate her efforts. It won't cost much in money, but the reward may be that she's inclined to get you some stuff again."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. CHildren are at home today, so put leftovers on the counter at lunch time and invited them to select something... ds had some fried new potatoes in a pan with some of the sausagemeat stuffing that was left, with some baked beans. DD had left over mashed potatoes, mushy peas, sage and onion stuffing and some baked beans. They both had hm ice lollies (aged 15 & 18!) only fruit juice in the lolly moulds, some grape and some orange."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. only found this thread yesterday but you've inspired me already! Found lurking in the fridge courgette, baby courgettes, carrots leeks and half an onion in clingfilm, baked it in the oven in casserole dish withbay leaves herbs tin of toms and used up rest of a tin sweetcorn and half a tin of open beans to it all. I had mine(veggie) with roll for lunch as a stew and hubby and kids can have some tomorrow over sausages, the rest i froze to put over a jacket potato or with pasta at some point - normally i'd have sneakily chucked it in the compost bin but have made three meals out of it instead thanks for the inspiration!grocery challenge jan 17 £ / 350.000

Anyone got any ideas for 9 slices of chorizo sausage ? Been in fridge for ages open but not at its actual use by yet. Looks ok and as chorizo quite moist am thinking its ok.
Thanks in advance
PS Slightly annoyed with myself for dumping some yuck grapes but there was mould! Put them in the kitchen compost collector though so hopefully they will give something back. No excuse I know but thought it wise. Have some cherries which am planning to stone and make a pie with (note added later- ended up coating the cherries in choccie too lol).Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

thinly sliced or diced instead for spicy meat pizza topping. Bit far for ds, but he would enjoy that."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Thanks in advance- with ordinary sausage in a casserole
- make some bread dough, roll out, lay choritzo and cubes of cheese over, roll up like swiss roll, cover and let rise, bake in oven
- ditto bread dough but use pastry
- make tomato and/or veg sauce, add chopped choritzo and pour over pasta
- boil some rice and add choritzo and stir fried veg
