Oooh, that cake looks nice! Well, I've bookmarked that one now so I might give that a go ;)

    My leftover usage for today:

Yes, there were (count them) 6 pieces of sausage in that spicy sauce left over, which I chopped finely and added to a lasagne. The other part of that was the remainder of the passata not used for the pizzas last night. All good. I'm now looking on the forums to try and find a good recipe to fill the oven while the lasagne bakes.

Hi, I am now seeing some progress in using up my leftovers combined with just shopping for beverage requirements. A few ideas I've completed/working on:-

Cauliflower mashed as a base to add other perishable salad/veg.
Fried veg as "chips" used up.
More bread recipes used up as they were or "improved" e.g. combine with something else old.
    More sweet recipes had.
Used up both savoury and storecupboard leftovers in gelatine e.g. cocoa, seeds, soya flour, flavouring and sweetener made a chocolate dessert.
    Freezer cooked veg to animals.
Items given to me for the wild birds being put out.

Leftovers are a wonderful resource but my problem is recreating the occasional spectavular results.

One example, I made a pie, layered leeks, mushrooms, stuffing and cooked chicken poured on leftover gracy and topped with shortcrust. It was fantastic - tried to do it again and it diddn't work quite the same :(

I have some veg in the fridge that really needs using up.
I have leeks, carrots, potatoes, onions, toms.
Is there a recipe to use these items up please :D?
I have various herbs, spices & pulses so maybe they could be added to the veg as well but i'm not very good at recipes, hence needing help :A.

    Thanks

Stew or soup, make soup if you have no meat by using all the veg, stock, herbs and lentils (barley if you have it) and boil up. If you have meat add that and make a nice stew.

Add HM bread and it'll taste just wonderful x

Well to be honest you don't really need a recipe as such...............although there are loads of websites to find one. Trouble is with recipes (when you're trying to use up spare veg and so on), that often there are quite a few ingredients that you don't have and then you fret and have to go out and buy them......not very MSE!
I would honestly throw them all together (peeled and cut up), decide whether you want a spicy dish, or a dish based on gravy, or cheese or whatever and adjust accordingly. Cook in whichever way you wish. The cheapest way is probably either on the stove top or microwave - but I stand ready to be corrected on this - or possibly slow cooker if you have one?

chop up the leeks, carrots, potatoes, onions into bite size pieces, drizzle in oil and spices and shove in the oven for 30mins. Then add the toms (chopped) for another 10 - hey presto, roasted veg.

    Veggie Chilli delicious with rice
Veg Lasagne, gorgeous with a nice cheesy sauce
or chunk them all up and chuck into a big pot with some stock cubes and make a nice vat of veggie soup.
