i would do what weezl suggested, would make a lovely topping for a savoury crumble
  • Could you not turn it into a sort of pie topping? I would use it as a topping for mince maybe as a sortt of cobbler type thing, or a vegetable stew, sprinkle some cheese on top and grill at the end of cooking - you could even toast it inder the grill on both sides to stop it going too soggy if you don't like soggy bread.

bake in the oven, then crumb in the food processor, press into the base of a loose-bottomed flan tin and use as the base of a mushroon croustade?

Mmm - thanks guys! I think a combination of those suggestions would work very well! I'm doing beef stew tomorrow anyway so I could make a crumble-type thingy with the remains of that. Sorted! :-)

    Hi there
How about blitzing them in a food processor, with onion, garlic, herbs and a bit of oil to taste - chuck in a tin in an oven to make a savoury stuffing.

Mmm, I would love that, but DS is still at the stage where he likes all his food separate (he's only just 5) so won't eat things like hash. :-(

Still, I think I'm going with the crumble topping. I baked the sarnies in the oven as per Weezl's suggestion while I was reheating my baked potato for lunch, so they're ready to be crumbed now!

I would have gently toasted them under the grill, then opened them up, popped on some cheese and made them into cheese on toast!

Loving all the great ideas on this thread though!

The bread crumbs could also be used in any minced beef recipe such as cottage pie, to bulk it out and season it.
A waist is a terrible thing to mind.
